  • Saddest Songs...

Let me set the stage.....I'm home alone while the wife is celebrating her mother's 60th bithday with her three sisters. So I went out with the boys and when I came home I'm sitting here with a fridge full of beer and decided to break out the old CD's. Man country music is some gut wrenching suff. From Shanendoah's "Ghost In This House" to George Jones' "Tennessee Whiskey" there are some really good ones. But I came upon the most emotional ones for me. "That's My Job" by Conway Twitty. My brother and I played that at my father's funeral when I was only 22 and my brother was 25. Then "Mamma Knows" by Shanendoah which was played at my mother's funeral ten months prior to my dad's funeral. I have not heard those songs in ten years. WOW..............I feel like a little girl I've teared up so bad. Here are some of the others I've listened to tonight.

Joe Diffie...Ships that don't come in.
Diamond Rio...In a week or two.
    Mark Chestnutt...I'll think of something.
    Sammy Kershaw...Politics Religon and Her.
    Keith Whitley...Don't close your eyes.
Alabama...Forever is as far as I'll go.
    Shanendoah...Two dozen roses.
John Anderson...I wish I could have been there.
    Travis Tritt...Anymore.
David Ball...When the thought of you catches up with me.
    Stever Warner...Some fools never learn.
Doug Stone...I see you in a different light.
    Pirates of The Mississippi...Feed Jake.
    Sawyer Brown...Dirt Road.

So, whats your song? Just curious.......

Keith Whitley..........how can you not get emotional listening to his music.....absolutley the saddest music I've ever listened to...ever.

    Keep the beers coming bartender.....

The saddest song I've ever heard is called "Sad Songs and Waltzes." I'm pretty sure it's originally by Willie Nelson, but Cake redid it, and that's where I know it from.

i'm writing a song all about you.
a true song as real as my tears.
but you've no need to fear it
cause no one will hear it.
sad songs and waltzes aren't selling this year.

i'll tell all about how you cheated.
i'd like for the whole world to hear.
    i'd like to get even
    with you cause you're leavin'.
but sad songs and waltzes aren't selling this year.

    it's a good thing that i'm not a star.
you don't know how lucky you are.
though my record may say it,
    no one will play it.
sad songs and waltzes aren't selling this year.

I think "Sad Songs And Waltzes" was a Keith Whitley song.....and yes......it very sad song.

I thin Willie sang it also but I think it was originally a Keith Whitly song...could be wrong though.

Ill agree with you...Country music IS some damn sad music...but I cant believe that Guns N' Roses was overlooked in here!

November Rain has to be one of the saddest songs I have ever heard! Whenever I hear I sit in a bit of a daze for a few minuites...

Im not sure you would call it a SAD song, but it always makes me cry.

My Little Girl --Tim McGraw. Its fairly new, the first time I heard I was bawling like a baby!

I'd have to agree with most posts in here, Keith Whitley is one of the most depressing guys EVER.
                  ...capture it...remember it...
