  • Favorite 70s bands

On my way to work listening to the 70s channel on XM radio and an instant memories of being a kid riding my bike and watching all the high schoolers on the block! I was wondering if anyone here had their favorites from the 70s. Mine are:

    Boston
    .38 Special
    Kansas
    Bad Company
    Steve Miller Band
    Foreigner
    Led Zepplin
    Eagles

  • #2
    ZZ Top
    T-Rex
    Boston
    Kansas
    Ted Nugent
    Shooting Star
    Van Halen
    Led Zep
    AC/DC
    BTO
    Judas Priest

      1. black sabbath
      2. Judas Priest
      3. Deep Purple
      4. Akka dakka (ACDC)
      5. Led Zep
      6. CCR
      7. Queen
      8.Thin Lizzy
      9. Kiss (would be higher if gene $immons wasn't such a greedy asshat)
      10. Foghat

there's a few others but i dont' wanna list 'em all. Most of them (particularly my top 3 above) were huge in the development of heavy metal.

there's another band that i'm forgetting right now and it's driving me crazy :brick:

Are you ready to Shout It Out Loud, cause I wanna Rock and Roll all Night and Party EVERY DAY!

Not a metal band, although infulential to some metal bands>

But since you like more metal, you should check out their early down-tuned sludgefests, like Strange Ways, Almost Human, God OF Thunder, Shock Me, The Oath, Escape From The Island (instrumental) and later, their most metallic albums, Creatures of the Night and Lick It Up. Not pure metal, but their heaviest works

I think the only band from the 70's I ever liked was Van Halen.

The rest mostly drive me up a wall!

Robert Plants voice gives me seizures.

that's why there in my top 10. Without kiss Dimebag Darrell would of never have picked up a guitar.

I would have to say god of thunder is probably my favorite kiss song.

Then you'd like Strange Ways. Just as slow, also with a weird, tripped out solo. Played backwards.

It's in "Hotter Than Hell" from 1974.

I'll see if I can email you an .mp3 if you'd like. I know you are a huge Dimebag fan, and I know I always enjoy checking my favorite bands influences.

All of those bands listed are awesome choices and totally agree.

Let's take this a step further and challenge the "wanna be's"

I really liked The Babys. John Waite's original band.
