That show is good, but my favorites on Discovery channel are Man Vs. Wild and Mythbusters. Also How it's Made is cool. Deadliest Catch is a little hard to watch when you know some of these guys could die at any moment. I can't even eat crab!

Crab is even more delectible to me after watching that show. Yeah they could die (and many do) but they also volunteer to do the job. It must be nice to make 50K or 70K working for just a couple of weeks.

a couple of weeks no there away from there family for 3 months at a time......but still that much dough for that amount of time its nice but scary

Yea, a month of King Crab fishing reels in 30,000 if you find the crab spots. 15,000 seems like a minimum though, and that's good enough for me if I were working only for a month.

Two weeks of Opilio crab fishing for twenty thousand... couple thousand more from cod fish...

Two totals months of work for over 50,000 dollars.

I would gladly take that job (gotta start sleep training though), but my parents would disown me if I stooped that low (in their opinion though, IMO I think it is a GREAT and risky and very worthwhile job).

ACcording to the show the king crab season can be as short as 3 days, but is typically 1 to 2 weeks. Ophilio is 3 or 4 weeks (if memory serves.)

Maybe I can take half my vacation next year and increase my taxable income by 75%. hmmmm...

Then again my wife would probably kill me to prevent our kids father from doing something stupid.

ya you summed it up,the one boat was only out like 2 days and sunk killing 3 so sad.......tring to support there family's
