I'll check it out and give Rob Zombie the benefit of the doubt, but 90% of these re-makes are absolute crap. I'm still upset at the new version of The Omen..... WHY WAS IT MADE ??? :brick::brick:

Being a big fan of the original I have to say I just hope Zombie doesn't screw it up. Some movies don't need remakes and I thought this was one of them. If all he plans to do is add a lot more gore then he should have left it alone.

Was wondering if anyone has seen this yet and if it is worth paying 8 or 9 bucks in the theatres.......I want to see it but money is kind of tight , but dont really want to wait 3 or 4 months for it to come out on DVD.....

i agree with you guys...i really hope zombie can do this story well. i personally didn't think it EVER needed to be remade.

...one of the BEST horror flicks to watch...late, late on halloween night. ever.

I've read some troubling reviews (not from Ebert and Roper types, but from horror movie fans). I'm sure the reviews I read will turn out to be too harsh, because I love the fact that Zombie is using 2/3 of the movie to tell the back story.

I'm going to wait until it hits video as I prefer to see movies in the theater with my son. I have a billion or so movies to watch at home as is.

Went and saw this friday night. The original Halloween is a classic, so do not go in expecting anything near the original Carpenter classic. Instead of a remake, we get a re-imagining.(WARNING: MILD STORY SPOILERS HERE ON OUT) The first forty minutes or so deal with Michael as a child growing up in a dysfunctional family. We see glimpses of the evil that he will become, but we also see why he does what he does later in life. The kid that plays young Michael is spooky and very convincing. Like the kid we all went to school with that always had the long dirty hair and the anti social attitude (or maybe some of us were that kid). Anyway, all of his teenage angst comes to a head on Halloween night and chaos ensues. The next part of the movie deals with a young Michael at the asylum and then as he reaches adulthood the movie is pretty much a remake of the original. The last 10 minutes is very tense, and the late night crowd I saw it with jumped no fewer then half a dozen times. Is it worth seeing? It depends on what type of horror movies you like. I grew up on slasher films, and I believe that Michael, Freddy, and Jason are my generations Wolfman, Dracula, and Frankenstein. Just as those monsters have gone through reincarnations, so too has Michael Myers in this version of Halloween. We get a history of how a monster is made, but we still don't feel sorry for him. I really liked it, and if the second half didn't feel so rushed I would have LOVED it. As it stands though, it's a worthy addition to the Halloween canon and I would give it a 8/10. Do yourself a favor and see it late at night on a weekend with a big crowd.
