Lap 94 caution comes out for jeb burton spin, at this time tony was 17th & i believe 1 of 19 cars just 1 lap down...all cars had completed green flag stops between laps 70-75 so they had anywhere from 20-25 laps on tires & fuel.
By not taking the wave around with the rest of the field, stewart falls from 17th to 33rd still 1 lap down while 16 cars jumped back to the lead lap & leapfrogged the 14 car...yes he got the lucky dog on the next caution but he had already given up 16 positions because all those wave arounds were in front of him.
This is what caused him to get hit from behind on the caution at lap 130 because he was at the back of the field instead of midpack where he should have been & that is what makes it such a stupid move i think, i guess my point is that if he takes the wave around like everyone else did, then he never gets hit because he is not that far back.
Unless you or anybody else has a different theory on why they would make that call or could help me understand how letting 16 cars jump in front of you was a good thing
