The passing of a great hockey player and even better person - Jean Beliveau

As a child I never liked the Montreal Canadiens so I never really appreciated the greatness of their players and certainly not the greatness of Jean Beliveau. He was one of those people who was a better person than he was a hockey player. I am very saddened by his death and wish that I could have appreciated him more in his life. He will be forever missed.

I watched Beliveau play, and he was the smoothest, best stick-handling big man in his generation. But he was always a classy person, gracious and kind, and not about himself. And yes, I was not a Habs fan, but some people you just have to be a fan of, no matter what team they are on.
