  • 2021 Fantasy Football Smackdown League

I see some talk about FF this year, so I thought I'd open up this new thread for the year. As you probably have seen, our league is officially open.

We have lost Rod, which is unfortunate, and therefore we need at least one more player. As long as everyone stays. I have one member who seems interested, and will let me know at some point.

Two folks have advised me that they will likely not take part if we go PPR in any form, or implement a Keeper into the process.

    My thoughts are as follows:

    1) I even suggested a half point PPR league, but that's enough for me. I am in a full point PPR league, which I like, but I have argued that it seems a little unrealistic to reward Receivers for a full point, even if they make no gain....or get a partial point for losing up to 10 yards. That's just me. Overall, I would much rather we stay with the non PPR format especially if it means we might lose someone.
    2) I have stronger feelings about implementing a Keeper into the system. Because we did not vote on it during the season, it is unfair to expect owners to buy in if they did not have really good players, whether it be due to being late to select, or otherwise. For me, a Keeper needs to be approved during the previous season, when we all know what we have. For example, what if an owner made a late trade of a quality player to acquire a couple of good players? Had there been a Keeper approved for the following season, they probably don't make that deal. So, because I believe it needs to be agreed to during the season prior to implementation, plus one or more will not sign up if we push it through, I am adamant that we let it be until we draft our teams....and wait a while til folks have a chance to think about it. Perhaps vote on it by mid season.

    Opinions?

Also, if you know of anyone who would like to join, it would be beneficial to know, as we may need one or more folks. Always smart to have a wait list.

I vote no on PPR. RBs like McCaffrey and Kamara already dominate. If they get more points for PPR they could potentially carry a team singlehanded.

ok with your ideas for a keeper. Not this year but it could be discussed during the season.

Thx pal! Haha....I like PPR when my totals are booming, but I take some issue in knowing that a player could lose 9 yards on a play and still end up a positive. That's not a normal play, but it seems to defy the valuation. Or when a back keeps getting short little passes from the backfield, when teams are giving some space to do so. ON THE OTHER HAND, there is a solution, draft those types. But yeah, good ole non PPR makes for hard earned points.

I don't understand the dislike for PPR, it has taken over as the standard format imo. That's why McCaffrey goes number one overall because he gives you top WR and RB numbers. I'm fine either way but PPR is my preferred format. I could care less about keeper's...

Good to know. I like both types of leagues, and as mentioned, full PPR seems like overkill at times based on how easy it is to catch a ball from the backfield for example, whereas a runner has to get 10 yards just to match the catch alone. But yeah, it is very popular obviously. Lets file your comments for now.

As for McCaff...I expect him to kick butt in either league!!

          Thx!!

Happy to report that we have 12 teams again, now that we have found a replacement for Rod. Great to announce that BroncosDivision, competitively known as Danish Bronco, is back in town. The good news, he taught me about FF, therefore he can not be that good!!!

            Hope everyone is doing well.

Please get back to me to confirm your status for the coming season. Early bird prize: I will tell you who will start at QB for The Broncos this year!! (I have insider info, and it's pretty exciting!!)

I’m in. Ppr or not either way I’m fine. Never been in a keeper league and I’m interested in seeing how it works but whatever y’all decide I’m good with.

                      I'm in for sure.

I prefer PPR but I wont quit if it stays nonppr.
Also I'm not a fan of keeper leagues, but again I wont quit if it is one.

I just love playing FF and I like being in a league with long term consistent players more then I care about format. So what ever keeps the most people happy is fine with me.

May biggest heartburn with the league is the NFL platform, I much prefer ESPN, but again nothing to quit over.

                      Cant wait!
