was it actually giving 30 points or was this just some early game bug?

My math this morning says Dallas defense gets over 60 points if they were actually getting 30 points for not allowing any points.

It looks like they got 20 points for the shutout.

Which is what we originally agreed on like has been said

All defenses when the game starts should be at 20pts. I pointed out the games were starting at 30pts. Yahoo adjust points all the time depending on how the NFL rules certain plays. Hadez should have 50 points for the week.

20pts for a defense is how I drafted because its exactly what we spoke about before the season started. If the league settings were for any other number it should be changed. Now if week 2 was in the books that's a completely different story. As for points, this league uses head to head for tie breakers so losing 5 points because of an error shouldn't matter. Now if someone lost because of the changes that's an understandable argument but nothing changed in the W/L column.

Ive played with Shady commish's in the past for big money and have had to stomach a lot worse then this. JvDub95 did not manually adjust anyone scores since it would have showed up in the transaction history so I don't really see why there's an issue for a settings mistake?

The five points came from the below setting.

There were none. I added them when i activated the league.

200-299 yards allowed- 5 points
300-399 yards allowed - 2 points
400-449 yards allowed - 0 points
450-499 yards allowed - -1 points
500 + yards allowed - -3 points

this is what I deleted last night. Every team started with 30. 20 from 0 points allowed and 10 from under 100 yards allowed. I did leave the negative portion

The under 100 yards for 10 points seems extremely rare. I would have to pay $20 to see all the info but I can see 60 yards and less for free. That has happened 5 times this century (2000 until now) and 2 times in the last ten years.

Not complete stats but seems extremely rare.

I vote to put things back the way they were

reasons.

1. We drafted our teams with the idea defenses would be scoring these points.
2. Upon analysis of seasons 2019 through 2022 the change is NOT as bad some thought. The Cowboys just had a REALLY good game.
3. Scoring setting changes after week 1 is shady.



point 1 support - in 2023 4 defenses were drafted rd 8. In 2022 it took 10 rounds to get 4 defenses drafted. In 2021 it took 12 rounds to get 4 defenses drafted.


point 3 support - If this was causing defenses to all the sudden be game breaking I am sure a majority would have voted to change. The best defense would get 32 extra points the entire season in 2022....2 points per game. Even the epic Cowboys in 2023 week one still get 55 vs 50. This is not game breaking and not worth a change in middle of week 2.

I suggest a league vote now on the defensive scoring change, and if we get a majority vote to approve it, let it be. Let the league collectively decide what the proper course of action is. This is not something we can't get around and come to terms on.

Speaking for myself, I completely forgot that we agreed to juice defenses this year and didn't pick up the Cowboys like I normally do. I tried to trade for them, offering about twice the normal value for a defense, and he still turned it down. I don't blame him. Under a standard scoring format, two defenses would've scored 20 or more points in week one. Under our previous format, I believe 10 defenses scored 20 or more. With the changes made last night, that number drops to 5, and this, to me, seems to more accurately reflect our original intentions. I would vote to approve the changes made last night.

I completely understand the desire to see the agreed upon league settings maintained throughout the season but, in the essence of doing what's best for the group, sometimes rules have to be revised. There are no absolutes, just what we as a group collectively determine is best for the group. I'm just proposing that we put our grievances aside and take a vote. There was no collusion or nefarious intent here. Just a misunderstanding.

Week 2 Def comparison

No defense would have gotten over 15 points in week 2 based on the scoring (yards+points) we started the season with. No defense allowed under 200 yards in week 2. All but 9 gave up more than 300.

So far this year zero defenses get the scary 30 points.
1 pitched a shut out
none got under 100 yards.
3 out of 64 got under 200 yards.
