  • If you make high quality Broncos pictures someone is probably profiting off you

So I discovered today that a company on Amazon is turning my artwork into 8x12 metal prints and selling them. Lots of other picks I recognize as being made by people on this board.

Pretty sure this one is one of board member's work

    As is this one

If you search for specific images on Bing it will show stores that use that image.

I also found two sites that are using it as a cell phone cover. I have contacted them and asked them to remove it.

I know I don't own the right to profit off of it (because the NFL owns the logo rights) but I sure as heck don't want anyone else profiting off of something I created.

It's a good question... if your art includes a copyrighted logo, what rights (if any) do you retain? Did they obtain rights from the NFL? So reporting them to the NFL and/or the Denver Broncos (and from what I see Warner/DC comics and Disney too) may be one way to get this stuff removed.

Amazon btw is not doing this, they are just providing the digital store front for "Izzy Sparks"

I get that Amazon isn't the one profiting, that is why I said "a company on amazon"

Amazon says they have forwarded it to the appropriate department for review.

Ah so you did, sorry I read ya too fast.

Hope they nail them then. I was a graphic designer for years (in Denver no less) but that was a long time ago and I wish I could remember all the rules.

After some of my images were lifted though in the '90s I took to digital watermarking, which I recommend. Something as simple and as subtle as your initials in the background in a light screen mode, and placed where (or in a size) it can't be easily edited out is one way to combat theft. Here's an example from Middle Earth artist Ted Nasmith:

                Not ideal, but it's something.

Thanks for this! Mainly one of the reasons I got out of the graphics side, honestly.

It's about to get me there...The logo on the first one is all over the net and I never get credit for it anywhere...In fact if you search Denver Broncos on google it is one of the first images to come up, thankfully it takes you directly to my DeviantArt page, but it's just frustrating.
