  • Will Jason Elam be a Bronco in 2008?

Man, i hope they can keep this guy.

    http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_8003060

Denver's Jason Elam is going into free agency as hot as any kicker in the NFL. During the past two seasons, Elam was 37-for-37 on field-goal attempts inside 40 yards and made 90 percent of his overall attempts. The Broncos are talking to Elam about an extension, but no deal appears imminent. -- Denver Post

I'm pretty sure we will be keeping Jason. He has made it clear that he wants to keep playing for Denver, and Shanahan has also made it clear that he wants Jason to stay.

Here is a question for ya. IN NO WAY DO I THINK WE CAN LET J ELAM GO ANYWHERE. My question is should we get a punter that can kickoff or should we keep a punter, kicker and a kickoff specialist on the roster? I think we need to find someone that consistantly get touchbacks on kickoffs, it seems to me that the opposing team was consistantly fielding kickoffs from the field and not the endzone.

Elam might be thinking about Retirement

Shanahan better sign Elam an extension. I mean, how many games has Elam won for the broncos in his NFL carrer? I am guessing between 20-25+ games he has won for the broncos. Elam is getting older, but as old as he is, he can really still kick the football like he was 26 years old. I know Elam will stay with the broncos. He has talked so highly of the broncos, and said that he is blessed to be with the broncos through out his NFL carrer. If he does not want an extension with the broncos, it will be because he wants to retire. But, I think he'll get a 1yr extention with the broncos for the 2008-2009 season and retire after that.

Of course he'll be here, and for the rest of his career. Shanny said that there is one guy when he takes to training camp that has a garenteed job-Elam.

He will be back no question about it. Why would we let one of the best NFL kickers go? It just wouldn't make any sense! Plus how else would Denver get the books he writes!?

There's no reason not to bring him back, and Elam doesn't seem like the guy who would leave this late in his career for more money.

I asked Jason today if he's going to stay with us...he said we'll have to see, with a smile. I can't see him playing anywhere else either...

I really hope that they will keep Jason. He has done quite alot for this team in the way of most points scored, tying the longest field goal record and game winning field goals on more than one occasion. I think it would be strange to see someone else kicking after Jason has been here for 15 seasons. He is still one of the most consistent kickers in the league. Sure he did miss some kicks this year but really how didn't. I'd really like to see him break the longest field goal record before he hangs up his cleats.

I can not see him going anywhere...

I'm pretty sure he will retire a Bronco! By now its his 2nd family

I've been thinking about this for the past few years as well.

Jason is getting close to retirement and we'll need a solid guy to fill his spot (definitely not replace him).

I think if a young guy can work with and learn from Elam, he can become pretty solid and dependable in clutch situations.

And I doubt Elam will go anywhere. This has come up before about the possibility of us losing him...

And he better not go anywhere, he's the only player my wife noticed because of his number....then she said she liked the name "Elam"....

Of course money will be an issue. These guys love to play pro football, but they only get so many years. Better to get the money they can, while they can.

Maybe this is the reason why we got a kicker before the MINN game....... but i would so rather have Elam then that other guy we got
