Elvis was being doubled and sometimes even triple teamed. I don't think it was that he was tired, he just had to deal with more blocking then anyone should have to deal with. If Moss improves then I think you would have enough of a end rush. Add Thomas and a decent veteran starter at DT and that would be a good line.
    Let's fix this defense!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is junk.. Marcus Thomas was a horrible fit for jim bates D but you will see him progress more under slowiks defense. Tim Crowder is a LDE (strong Side) there is NO WAY tim could play DT full time.

True, they always double your best DL, its just sad that Elvis was our best DL last year, Elvis is great against the pass because he is quick off the snap and he has pretty good speed and i think his shorter size and long arms help him when positioning around a blocker, the guy is a freak of nature because he shouldnt be able to get around those guys like that, but when it comes to Run defense he usually gets owned, the rules change alot from pass blocking to run blocking, in pass blocking the Tackle is trying to move with the DE and counter his moves, thats where speed and quickness helps Elvis, in run blocking the O-lineman can tee off on Elvis, and as soon as they get their hands on Elvis it is usually over, Most of the DE's that are good against the run can ride the block to the runner and either power thru them or simply throw them off and make the tackle, when you saw Elvis being double teamed during this past season i bet it wasent on a running play, it was on passing plays because he was the only Lineman we had that could actually get to the QB. Take Ekuban as an example, in 2006 he led all Bronco D-linemen in tackles, he was the best Run stopper on that line and he tied Elvis for the team lead with 8 sacks , Ekuban is a good solid all around DE , not a super star but very solid in all areas, those are the guys you need starting if you have them, Elvis is the type of specialist you need comming in on downs to be affective for a full season.

I'm a Longhorn fan, so I have a natural bias in favor of Crowder, but watching him throughout the year, what I saw was that, way too often, he would get completely stopped when he was pass rushing and completely buried when he was on run defense. He needs a lot of good coaching and some more strength conditioning, imo, before he will be a consistently good defensive lineman.
