With the release of Mike Bell will this be an opportunity for the Broncos the officially or maybe unofficially retire the number 30.

    What's your thoughts?

I think if they were going to retire #30 they would have done it before letting Mike Bell wear it.

      Retire IT!!!

Without TD wearing number 30 we never get those two world championships!

I have never understood the retirement of numbers...I won't get into an argument about it, but if they have issued #1 already, it seems the Bronco front office doesn't think much about retiring of numbers either.

If u retire numbers every time you have a stand out player, come 40-50 years maybe a 100 down the road, think about all the numbers you couldnt use..... Broncos seem to be a team not to fall into these jiggish kind of things.

                  agreed.

There are some teams out there with stacks of numbers retired... I understand it for someone like Walter Payton, Elway or Peyton Hillis (in 15 years time ) but you can do it for everyone, ele there wouldbe no numbers left!

Just looked this up, there are some teams with crazy amount of retired numbers:
                    Bears 13
                    Giants 11
                    49ers 9
with plenty of teams with 7

There are 5 Franchises with no retired numbers.

Seahawks have the number 12 retired for "Fans/the twelfth man"

I would personally like to see them retire #80 if they are going to retire any numbers. :2cents:

Bowlen has said Elway has set the standard for future Broncos to get the # retired.

So unless someone puts in 16 years and is considered a top-10 player of all-time... we're not going to see it anytime soon.

By the way, one team with no numbers retired... the Cowboys.

                          Yeah along with
                          Faiders
                          Jags
                          Texans
                          Ravens

But I guess three of those four have shorter histories so wil be a while before they retire a number

I say retire it. The Broncos would still be without a super bowl win without TD. 2,008 rushing yards?? Retire it.

                              They should not retire it.

They should require the starting running back to wear it.

Of course, it would suck if he has a season ending injury or loses the job to someone else, but I think it's worth the risk.
