  • It'll probably just sit in the closet, but it was a father's day gift from my wife so I won't burn, sell, or trash it. And I have a picture of my son (about 1 years old at the time) sporting it, which is how she presented the gift by showing me the picture. So whether Cutler ever plays another down for Denver, I will keep the jersey indefinitely. But I also won't be buying another jersey for a long time most likely (already have some Broncos shirts that I can sport when watching the game instead).

        • Bowlen just released an OFFICIAL statement that says they contacted Bus Cook and it was said to Pat & Xanders and Cutler's wish is to be traded.

What smells fishy? Nothing. Cutler is officially gone.

If they didn't really want to trade him, they would have waited untill camps to find out if he was really showing up.
You have to wonder if Bowlen made the announcement to deter Jay from showing up to camp in April, making their decision easier.

Maybe he's 'shocked' because he thought they were making progress. It seems quite clear that both sides haven't been on the same page since Day One.
I think it all boils down to Bus Cook. It seems to me that the trade request by Cutler was the first major "shot across the bow" in an attempt to get a new contract. Now we have the FO saying hey wait a minute we want Jay here blah, blah blah. Cutler doesn't answer his phone, so what he said he wanted to get away from everything to clear his head. I think Bowlen decided to call Cooks bluff and now Cutlers camp is scrambling to sort things out. I firmly believe that Cook has orchestrated this whole thing and now it's blown up in Jay's face.

                  • My girlfriend has about 10 of his jerseys now and a few are mounted and signed.
They'll be going up on eBay with in the next few days...
I told her the news last night and like a closed minded person she can be sometimes NEVER thinking the fact Jay would be traded or let go, she cried.
But I got things under control until I found her taking a knife to some of the jerseys this morning screaming at them.
                    "You f-in cry baby!!!!!!!!!!"
So men please watch your wife(s) and your girlfriend(s) for the next couple of days to weeks till Jay is officially gone.

                    • That's a great article. I was wondering why it hadn't been posted till now.

Great points by Cugel and everyone in this thread.
Hoping for a defensive-minded head coach and a return to the ZBS on offense. At the very least, no more cheaters for head coach.

So Pat Bowlen's word is gospel, and everything and anything he says is the truth?

Why is it true for Pat Bowlen and not Jay Cutler, just out of curiosity?

We will see. I only see TB and the Jets as possible teams with play-offs aspirations, and even going to the Jets may not be feasible given what's transpired from certain players who won't want him there
Is Washington still a possibility in your mind? Rumors are a dime a dozen, but it was rumored that they had some interest at one point?

The Jets, Eagles, Bucs, and Vikings are all teams that could legitimately make a play for Cutler and be in contention for a playoff spot this season. So yeah, it's definitely possible he goes to a playoff caliber team.

A source close to Cutler said the quarterback was surprised by Bowlen's declaration. In recent days, Cutler had packed up his car in Nashville and had it shipped to Denver, where he intended to show up for the team's first minicamp April 17-19.

The source added that Cutler said he has not received phone calls from the Broncos since he received a text from McDaniels a week ago Tuesday. Whatever the interpretation, Bowlen decided to exercise his ownership powers and end all confusion. He's the boss, and he says the team will trade Cutler. "

I wonder who that "source" is. My guess is that it's Cook trying to combat the perception that Jay has around the league right now.

As much as you shouldn't trust the "company line", has Cook and his leaks done anything to earn trust? Cook very well could be trying to keep his client in the best light possible. "Send your car to Denver Jay, Don't return their calls and I'll tell them you want a trade, and that way you won't look like the one at fault". It's not a stretch at all. I'm not saying that this is what happened, but isn't something along those lines a possiblity?

Cutler could have shown up at the last camp. He didn't. He "coincedentally" put a couple of houses up for sale. There have been very public reports for the last few days that Cutler wasn't returning calls. Couldn't he have picked up a phone and say "Hey, I heard you guys have been trying to get in touch with me"?

I'm not sure why anyone would completely trust one side and assume everything the other side said is lies. Honestly right now I don't trust what's coming out of either side.
