  • Raiders Game Bigger than most people are thinking it is

Everybody is looking ahead to the Dallas game to see how good of a team this Broncos team really is, as the true test. I agree that game will tell us a lot but this game coming up is going to tell us more than what people think, why?

#1. In years past a game just like the one coming up against the Raiders is one the Broncos would unexpectedly lose by playing down to the talent level of our opponent. So lets see if they show up to play and pull off a win because team past(2-3 years) would probably not win this game coming up against the Raiders.

#2. We split with the Raiders last year, so lets see how we do this year playing them in a road game.

#3. Let see how this team shows up against a division team. Division games are the most important of all games. Win a division game and its like winning two games because you get the win and give an all important division team another loss.

#4. Its on the road. Even playing the worst of teams, winning on the road is no easy feat in the NFL.

#5. The Raiders over the past two weeks have played the other teams in our division and beat one of them on the road and almost beat the other one. So yes how we perform will tell us a lot about this team and a little more of where we fit, at the time in, the division.

#6. We are playing with a lead in the division and an undefeated record. Lets see if our team gets too high on themselves and doesn't prepare for what is perceived as a lesser opponent. We blew a three game lead in the division with three games to go last year so lets see how we do this year with a one game lead and 14 games to go.

#7 Everything is new on our team; new offense, new defense, new ST and new coaching staff. It takes a while for everything to start clicking properly, whether its for the better or worse. So lets see if they keep progressing, especially on offense.

Yes there is a lot riding on this game and a lot to learn about our team. We don't have to wait for the Dallas game, granted that game will tell us some more but its just another chapter in the book. If we go 3-0 with a victory against the Raiders there's 7 things that are very important that I mentioned above that a victory could move towards providing answers.

I am definitely not chalking up a win. I do think the raiders could beat us, and actually I think they will just because. If both teams play as they have been for the past 2 weeks, however, I do think the Broncos will win. But you just never know. Even when the Raiders were complete garbage (2-14) I never automatically chalked up a win against them, or any division rival.

Just another thing: Fans can look ahead all they want...just as long as the players don't!

Yea, I am defintely tired of hearing people say were gonna beat them by 21 and were goona crush them. Those people dont watch football apparantly. The Raiders are better than we have seen them in previous years and were in for a very tough game.:go:
      Don't Panic!

This game is certainly no gimmie. These '09 Raiders are a lot stronger on the defensive line and their LBs and DBs have speed to burn. Denver's offense will get a good test this weekend. On the other side of the ball I see Denver with the edge, if the D continues to play like it has. The Raiders are at a bit of a disadvantage at the QB position, and they are really raw at WR, but they have a stable of RBs that can pound the rock. I can see this game being a low scoring affair and certainly no easy win. Go Broncos!

This is not a definite win, the raiders are a physical team and when we have a rivalry like we have with oakland anything can happen. I for one am confident in the Denver Broncos and i believe that we will come out with a Win but this game can go either way if our boys dont take this game seriously.

I said this yesterday and it still holds true...

Don't overlook Oakland. Seriously. Every year we assume we're gonna woop up on Oakland, and they give us a game. Yes, we play down to their level, but still... I cannot stress enough... don't overlook oakland. IF we win on sunday, i seriously believe we could be 5-1 or 4-2 at the bye. But, IF we don't win on sunday, I see it setting the tone for the rest of the season. This weeks game is pivotal. We need to come out, respect them as a football team, and play our asses off.

I really don't think our guys are overlooking this game.

1 -it's our first division game, which all our vets know what that means

2 -it's already OAK's 3rd division game which makes them a bit more battle tested.

3 -Every interview I have seen from our guys have been cautious of this matchup and we are showing respect to the strengths of OAK.

This is an important game. All division games are important. If we can pull off this road win, it will be deserved not automatic

I think the key for our success is to be able to run it and be able to stop their run. (wow that sure sounds cliche huh)
The beatings will continue until morale improves....

We will lose a close one to the Raiders, probably low scoring, lose by 3 or 6pts. Oakland will probably play their best game of the season unfortunately!!!!

Board will go crazy with people in tears and cursing Orton and McD............ bla, bla bla

Then we'll beat Dallas and play our best game of the season with Orton throwing for 250 yards and B-Marsh re-emerging, ending the first quarter of the season at 3-1

The Fans may look past this game to the Dallas game, but that doesn't matter. The players aren't looking past this one. They had a number of problems in last week's game that they need to work on. They have a game plan tailored specifically for the Raiders. They will use this game to fix problems lthey are seeing on the field.

Teams that look past their current opponent to other opponents down the road aren't teams that have instituted brand new schemes, major coaching changes and major personnel changes. The teams looking past their current opponents are those who are very comfortable where they are and not concerned with this week.

                    That's not the Broncos.

You won't see the Broncos looking past any opponents this season. They have too many things to fix and too much to do just to get ready for this week, never mind next week.

I think this will definitely be a close game. Looking past the Raiders is a bit optimistic, they haven't played bad so far.

They had the Chargers until late.
They beat a KC team on the road. KC who hung with the Ravens until the 4th Quarter, away from home.

Personally I think the Raiders take this one from you guys. It's certainly no gimme.

3-0 would be pretty huge for you, even with the easiest part of your schedule gone, and the toughest part coming. 2-1 could soon turn into 2-4.

It's pretty vital to notch up a win therefore.

oh god no. i prater is awesome, but if the field goal is anywhere inside the 50 yard line then an anxiety attack might prevent me from seeing if it goes in or not

There is no reason for our defense to fall before the Raiders' offense unless we witness a meltdown. The question is if our offense will manage to score some points, I think we will need a strong running game to help Orton because their secondary is good.
