  • Dont blame Orton

Running game in our 8 wins -- over 1300 yards and a 5.799 YPC

Running game in our 7 losses-- 500 yards with a 3.74 YPC

I'd like to see anyone win 12 or 13 games with Moreno their back constantly getting 20 carries a game when he clearly deserves none. Today was another great display of 2 yards a carry for the guy.. (Buck had 5 carries for 42 yards)

Man Buck and Hillis would make a great duo.. too bad we never get to see it.

For those wishing we still had cutler let me remind you we had a good running attack all year last season.. Yes, it was 7 different guys, but they were all more consistent than Moreno is.

In Cutlers 8 wins in 2008 our running game had about 900 yards with a 5.43 YPC average..

In Cutlers 8 losses in 2008 our running attack had roughly 740 yards with a 5.39 YPC average

Weird.. It seems like we had a good running attack all year, but it didnt matter, cutler would win us some games and lose us some games..

My Point being, if we can have a somewhat effective rushing attack, (like we had almost all last year) Orton will not lose us the game.

Orton was just as bad in this game as the running game. Not only that, but some of his throws were really stupid. Like throwing a screen pass to a guy falling down. Throwing a three yard route like he's trying to throw a rock through a battleship, while throwing a 50 yard pass like he's tossing a grenade into a bucket. I have no clue why the guy continues to get a pass for being a mediocre QB who happens to be a good person off the field. So he's a nice guy. Let em go save a kitten from a burning tree, but get us a real QB for pete's sake.
Fire Rick Dennison - This Signature will stay until the worst playcaller in the NFL is gone.

Being a nice guy has nothing to do with what i was saying.

My Point is simple. We give him a running game, he will not lose us the game.

You cant say that for Cutler.

I really don't know what to think about what some fans are saying here after this loss.

            Some Facts:

            1) You had no running game. Period. Buck was running well but wasn't consistently given the ball because you were playin from behind because,

            2) Your defense gave up 20 points in the half. I don't care about what they looked like as they gave up the points, or what they looked like when they held. They gave up 30 points and almost 400 yards of offense.

That's not gonna work if you wanna win. To blame Kyle for this loss as though his play actually cost you is the silliest thing I've ever read on this board. You tell me what qb wins a game like this? The Broncos had a total of 14 carries from your RB's. Compared to a total of 41 pass attempts by Kyle. It is completely unbalanced offense. Very few offenses win without even a sufficient running game.

I'm sorry, but Kyle Orton's stats for the season are simply not numbers that indicate that he has cost the team a season. They just don't. You all need to figure out why you have no run game. Why you only run decently against garbage teams?

Furthermore, I don't care about what anyone says about the Broncos defense, they don't hold when they absolutely have to. The Broncos offense found a way to convert defensive turnovers into TD's when it counted. They found a way to overcome the thing that was the big problem on offense. However, like in the Raiders game, the defense simply couldn't hold on and make a key stop when they had the Eagles stopped. I don't care how many plays you made or didn't make before that, you have to make the stops that ca win you the game. Sorry, I don't buy that Kyle has cost the Broncos their entire season.

You ever think our running game sucks because teams know we can't constantly pass? They know Orton isn't a serious threat to pass so they stack the line of scrimmage and take away Buck/Moreno. Orton makes our offense so one dimensional that even the worst defensive coordinators can easily gameplan against us.

McDaniels playcalling sucks because Orton limits the offense.

Actually when we do constantly pass we seem to do better. Our short game is sort of a run attack. Hit them with a ton of short passes which will open up the longer stuff, it happened a few times today.

Yeah I realize thats part of our strategy, but teams seem to know how to take that away, and when they do that our running game and Orton become even less effective.

Obviously our line was pathetic too. Hochstein, Wiegmann, and Polumbus all need to be replace IMO.

                    Orton sucks. Deal with it.

Looked like he was playing two hand touch out there.

Your running game doesn't suck because of Kyle's passing, your running game sucks because Knowshon is given carries he no longer deserves. Buck and Hillis should be handling the bulk of the carries, but they don't. A team's running game sucks because of them, not the other team. I've seen teams run and run well when the defense knows it's coming. If you wanna run the ball run it. You simply can't put that all on your QB no matter who he is. Take some of the best QB's and they have a running game they can use to loosen things up when they need it to. Even if they are a pass first team. You guys can't use your running game when it counts. You constantly find yourselves in 3rd and short situations where a nice run can get you the 1st, but you can't seem to do it. Instead you look to Orton to get you out of it everytime and so does the opposing defense.

I'm not saying Orton is infallible or anything. He obviously made some mistakes but 27/41 189yds 3td 1int and 27 points scored by the offense shouldn't cost you the game. If an offense scores 27 points they're supposed to win. Your defense, no matter how good they've been can't give up 20 points to get the team in a hole, then have the offense take advantage and make key plays and score, and then decide to give up 10 more points at the end, then get to blame the offense for not doing more.

What was he supposed to do have 5 td's? And what if you lose the game then too would still have been his fault? 3tds is a good game by any QB on any team. Any more TD's and your QB has had an outstanding day. However, if you score 27 points, you should win. Any defense ranked as highly as the Broncos should rarely allow an offense to get such a lead in only a half.

Any other fanbase congratulates their QB for the 3 td's even if he made some mistakes along the way. Kyle didn't give away those points, he didn't give up that yardage either. I would understand it more if Kyle had thrown some pick 6's or something, or when the defense forced those to's the offense did nothing with it, but the offense scored touchdowns from them at least twice, and I think a fg on the other. That's overall good production from turnovers. Your offense can't do more than score TD's.

How about you watch the game and you realize that as soon as Moreno gets the ball he is hit IMMEDIATELY. Then we do a playaction and then MAYBE, if KO throws it right, we get a completion. Teams STACK because early in the season we were successful running. DCs have learned how to stop us, and they do just that. Therefore, Ortons notorious inability to throw down the field makes our running game suffer.

What you just stated was what teams do. Adjust. The league adjusted to the style of play that the Broncos were using. It is up to the Broncos to readjust to the league. This is the coaching staffs issue. McD responded by going even more conservative, instead of being innovative and using his guys is a way that makes them effective again. Orton is doing what he is asked to do and so is the rest of the offense. It isn't Orton's fault, it's not Schefflers fault, it's not Royals fault, and so on. All teams face this issue. The Broncos have to make overall adjustments and change their game a bit. They aren't doing that. They do the same thing over and over, so defenses play you the same way over and over. If you guys had won the game, everyone would be talking about how Kyle deserves another year. Since you lost it, Kyle's the worst QB in the league.

I tell you what, how about not get into a 13 point deficit and give up big plays to start the game. Maybe that might help in the future.

you ever visit the real world where its commonly known that as long as orton cant open up the whole field then teams will continue to stack the box therefor limiting our run game

two teams with bad run games
bolts run a spread offense...they actually spread the offesne...they run deep routes , mid routes and short routes

our version of the spread offense is to line the wrs wide...then throw the bubble screen to them

until orton can or is willing to throw it deep more then once a game, until he utilizes the mid range middle of the field more often then teams will continue to key in on our short game which includes the running game
