Here's the premise....if you could add one NFL Offensive and Defensive player onto the current Denver Broncos roster (as we know them right this minute).....other than QB .....who would you pick to give us the biggest bang for the buck??? I left out QBs because I believe many of us would opt for a QB, and that would take some of the fun out of things.
I have wrestled with this a bit, because there are so many studs I'd love to have in Orange and Blue. But who would turn this team around the quickest, based on the roster we have?
Offense
This was very tough, as will be the D selection, but I feel strongly that we need an outstanding Guard to turn this thing around, and for my money Steve Hutchinson is the all pro's all pro. He has consistently been a league leader at his position, and put him together with our outstanding tackle tandem, and we are suddenly a very scary offense. We still need a quality Centre, but acquiring big Steve would be a huge step in the right direction.
Of course I thought long and hard about Chris Johnson (and a few other gems), but until we fix our oline I am not confident that a back can turn everything around for us. But I may have second thoughts once I hit submit!!!
Defense
Where to begin? Well, I love Troy Polamalu (a little too old), Demarcus Ware, Asomugha, Freeney and on and on........but I would take that still young, but very seasoned stud Patrick Willis, to seal off our defense at ILB, and turn this team into a monster D!!! This guy has it all, and tackles, tackles, tackles. With our improved dline, and a very solid set of backs, the addition of this stud in the middle would make the Broncos a "ridiculous" defense (imagine Willis, DJ, Doom, Ayers and several other solid LB backups).
