  • Kc Afc West Champs/denver: Afc West Tag Team Champs

After DENVER kicked KC'S ass last Sunday, I saw one of the most selfish things an NFL player could possible do and you Bronco fans loved it, of course.

What in the hell was that all about when Portis broke out the so-called "heavyweight running back" championship belt? Clinton Portis and Shannon Sharpe looked like Hulk Hogan and the Macho Man Randy Savage looked when the took the tag team championship from "The Natural Disasters!" ha! I can't imagine the ridicule that KC fans would get if Holmes and Tony Gonzalez did the same thing if roles were reversed. It wouldn't happen anyway. If Priest Holmes has a huge game he always gives credit to the coaches and his offensive line first. Priest won't even talk to the media after a huge game so he won't sound selfish. I'd take Holmes over Portis anyday.

Portis was claiming after the game he is the best back in the NFL.
No credit was given to his offensive line who blew KC's defense off the ball the whole game allowing Portis to run wild. He wasn't crediting his offensive coordinator for drawing up and calling the plays that worked all day...nor, his head coach Shannahan.

Now, all you Denver fans can sit in the mountains and claim you're contenders for the SB now that you beat KC. Truth is, you will win this Sunday against the Browns. However, in order to make the playoffs Denver will have to win @Indianapolis and @Green Bay. Then, and only THEN, if you do manage to win those two games, you would have to win 3 ROAD Games to get to the SB....sorry, not going to happen. That's FIVE(5) road games against quality teams.

THINK, really try to THINK about it, you would want to play KC again after blowing them out? no way would I want my Chiefs to play Denver at Invesco 3 or 4 weeks after blowing them out at Arrowhead.

It is so obvious what KC's problem is now I think Vermiel can correct it.

Good luck the rest of the way, I think Denver WILL make the playoffs. INDY looks soft and GB sucks. Bring it on DENVER at Arrowhead in the playoffs if that's what you want.

careful, sometimes you get what you wish for.

Not this season buddy. With Greg Robinson around, KC cannot improve the run defense this season. Too late for that.
They will get killed by Jamal Lewis or Portis in the playoffs.

By the way, Portis did sound arrogant after the game. But you have got to remember his age and how old Preist Holmes is. So obviously the difference in maturity .....

For us to reach the playoffs, our only big playmaker is Portis. He is carrying the team right now.

Hey, we beat Baltimore in Baltimore...Lewis had 100 yards but Chiefs held his big runs to none...he smashed for 100. Portis ran all over hell, not like J.L.

Denver needs more production from Plummer than just naked bootlegs to make the playoffs.

        we'll see what happens...

ozzy, In 1997/98 Denver didnt win 5 road games before the super bowl. Sorry, but with out Elway this Bronco team never does that.

I am fully aware the Broncos came in and beat KC at Arrowhead that year. Talk about "overrated", that was kc in 97. And Denver didn't make fools of KC 4 weeks before that match-up either, this time "round 3" will have more at stake and Chiefs will have plenty to prove to the donkeys and NFL.

Yes, Rudi Johnson had a big game against KC but we only lost by 5, not 18 like at Denver. Portis is the best back we've faced all year...

hey, Denver is dangerous for sure, but don't base the rest of your season on just one game. Chiefs "d" had been doing ok until the Oakland game...that's why we're 11-2 as opposed to 8-8 last year.

Don't know if you saw my post since yours and mine were so close.

I watch football for entertainment, and needless to say, I was entertained. I think if the roles were reversed and Priest and Tony had done the stunt, I think many KC fans would have been entertained too. You personally might not, but I think many of your fellow fans would've.

In this last game, Portis' antics and accomplishments stole the spotlight, so most, if not all the media omitted him giving credit to his o line and teammates which is unfortunate. If you want proof, look at the videos in the links below. These are from the website of one of denver's TV public channels. Portis gives credit in both.

Actually, KC's defense wasn't looking that great before playing Denver. It was their turnovers that really kept them in the games but we saw what happens when you don't get them.

The Chiefs defense was giving up about 346 yards per game before last Sunday which would still rank them #26 in the league. (They're #28 now.)

What this tells me is that Denver better not just assume they're going to walk all over opposing defenses from now on. We have the potential to dominate offensively but the Chiefs' defense was not a great test.

I'm shocked you would make such comments, BroncoStud.
I'm biased as a Chiefs fan, of course, but I don't think this site degrades into name calling quite as quickly as over on Broncomania.

On that site, if you say Portis is a great back but neglect to bow down and place him above Jim Brown, Walter Payton, Gale Sayers and Barry Sanders, you're branded as an idiot with a sub-zero IQ. I call it a zero tolerance policy. The only back who has ever been close to Portis is Terrel Davis.

Over here, you still get some of that intolerant behavior, but I don't think it's to the same extent as over there. I think here, you get, for the most part, treated as you treat others. Meaning that you can give an opinion here and discuss it for a while before it turns into name calling.

Not to mention your jackass receiver Kennison mouthing off before the game. Maybe, just maybe, if he hadnt done that, it wouldnt have pissed Denver off so much, and Portis would not have made such a big deal out of beating the living crap out of your team. Ever think of that? All we have heard from you KC goons for the past 6 or so weeks is how 'great' your team is, and how you were going to go undefeated, win the Superbowl, yadda yadda yadda. I know it is very unusual for KC fans to have such a good year (ie First time ever the team has done better than 4-0 to start a season), so it must be easy to get excited about it. You got what you deserved, a public humiliation, and are now trying to cope with it. This is just an example of one more Chiefs defense mechanism. Better luck next year.

I never cared for players that showboat (TO is one of the biggest out there). It shocked me that CP would do that during the game, even jokingly. He feels he is one of the best backs this season and deservidly so. He has the highest yds per carry in the nfl and is only 160 yds behind Lewis. He only played in 12 games and didn't play the full game in a couple of those because of injuries (or in the KC game because of a woopin'). He will easily pass 1500 yds for the 2nd time in his 2 year carrier, which I believe he'd be the first to do so. No one can compare him to any of the greats yet because he is only in his 2nd seaon but barring any serious injury he may be up there some day.
As far as Denver playing at KC, should it come to that remeber this; Denver out played KC in both games this year. KC got a couple of fortunate breaks in the first which helped them win. If I were a KC fan, playing Denver in the playoffs would scare me. Since I'm a Denver fan that senerio would be a dream date.
