If Denver holds New Orleans (2-4) without a point in the fourth quarter Sunday, it will match the franchise record — six straight games without allowing a fourth-quarter point. The record is held by the 1977 defense — the vaunted "Orange Crush" that took the franchise to its first Super Bowl. Led by Randy Gradishar, Tom Jackson and Louis Wright, the '77 Broncos didn't allow a point over their final six regular-season games.

Denver allowed a td in the 4th quarter but that was in crap time against the Saints.

Denver has put 9 players on injured reserve this season, with 5 of them being the projected starters (Hunter, Mays, Carter, Walton and Warren). Beal was also supposed to be one of the top guys in our rotation.

Those 5 players are all on defense, and as of now the Broncos have the 6th ranked total defense in the league.
    http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/te...sition/defense

That success can greatly be attributed to Wesley Woodyard, Derek Wolfe, Rahim Moore, Chris Harris and Tony Carter stepping up while Justin Bannan, Kevin Vickerson and Von Miller have improved their all around game.

The front-office also signed impact players after losing starters to injury in Keith Brooking who has filled in better for Mays than Joe Mays was doing, Jim Leonhard who has been a good addition as a nickel back and Dan Koppen seems to be playing better than JD Walton was.

Our offense is much more consistent, we have 3 good passing threats at TE, our running game is very solid and our passing offense is scary.

All this has happened while the organization went through a major transition of starting quarterbacks, a new defensive coordinator (again), the 9 game suspension of our best all around linebacker, and a slew of new players that came in the offseason.

The Denver Broncos have a great front office, a great quarterback, a team that is striking fear into the hearts of the rest of the league and earning their respect, all the while gelling and looking better and better game by game.

When's the last time that we could say that?

Oh, and there's the fact that we have the league's easiest remaining schedule.

    Are you ready?

You make some good points especially the comparison to the 1977 D. The number of top defenders on IR is relevant for next year. Isn't one player allowed to come off IR during the season?

Elway & Co. have done a great job cleaning up after the previous regime. Fox and his staff have done a tremendous job coaching and preparing this team to play.

PS D'Andre Goodwin was waived from Injured Reserve on 15 September as per the Broncos own site.

Yes, a team can now recall 1 player a season from injured reserve. Not sure if we have anyone that will be eligible for that.

To put how truly phenomenal that is into perspective, take a look at who the Broncos have played, their quarterbacks and how few points the Broncos are from being undefeated.

We've played 2 future HoF qb's and another who has won 2 superbowls. They've won a combined 6 superbowls.

As of this week, Matt Ryan is 3rd in passer rating, Roethlisberger 5th, Tom Brady 6th, Matt Schaub 9th and Drew Brees 10th. Philip Rivers is 13th and then Palmer is way down at 17th. 5 of the QB's we've played in 7 weeks are in the top 10 in passer rating.

New England is #1 in points per game, Houston 2nd, (Denver is 4th) Atlanta 5th, New Orleans 6th, and then there's a dropoff with Pittsburgh @ 13th, San Diego 16th and Oakland 22nd.

Are any of our IR guys in line to come back or are their injuries to severe?

AND the Broncos are a mere 25 points from being undefeated. (Considering you have to win by at least 1 point.)

There's certainly a lot to be excited about. I'm just hoping they can keep their focus and their intensity at a high level, if they do? We very well could be competing for a spot in the "BIG" game this year!

The new rule is not yet known to me in its fullest but evrytime I have seen a guy put on IR who can come back the news report says the player is designated for return. Not sure if that is just media speak or if something actually needs to be done when a guy is put on IR.
Time to build on the win and grow the team from some solid play higher level of play

Each nfl team can designate one player for return per season.

It also has to be designated at the time of them being put on IR.

There's a long way to go. I think in order for this team to have prolonged success we will have to do a better job up front in the running game. McGahee was mauled all afternoon and the Bengals front 4 aren't necessarily elite.
