  • Jack Del Rio is THE MAN

I have to admit, I wasn't high on him early in the season. His defenses were always respectable in Jacksonville. Last season our coverage by LBs and safties was terrible to be nice. At the start of this season, it looked like the same thing was going to continue. TE's were tearing us apart, and we couldn't stop the run for anythnig.

A lot of attention has went to the offense with PFM, but this defense is something special and I've got to give it to Del Rio for the schemes that get the job done. We are the only team in the league with a top 5 offense and defense. They got down early, but we made Ray Rice look irrelevant, we've faced Foster, Sproiles, McFadden, J Charles, Turner and Martin to name a few and none really had a field day like they would have in past seasons. We cannot overlook any team, but the one team that scared me to death early this year was New England because of the reciever like tight ends. Not to say they don't pose a threat anymore, but the defense we have and the schemes Del Rio puts together makes me feel pretty good....not to mention we should get at least a second round game in Denver.

His run D is fundamentally sound. The line doesn't stunt when they read run. They play a jam and slide technique which builds a wall allowing Backers and DBs to make plays. It is gap discipline coupled with pursuit. I'd love to see his pursuit drills.

Just imagine if he stays around for a while and builds on this...

The thing that frustrates me....teams are going to be knocking down his door with the stockpile of head coaching vacancies there will be this summer. I'm just hoping he sees the history that can be made if he sticks around.

Yeah, he will get offers. I just hope he learned something from his HC experience and seeing Wade Phillips bounce between HC and DC. Some guys are better coordinators than HCs. My gut says JDR is one of those. No shame at all in being a top DC. Lets hope he thinks the same way.

Good on you for recognizing JDR. He deserves a ton of credit. This D has transformed into an elite level unit.

I wonder if he has any plans on maybe sticking around. Imagine if he stayed and eventually took over for Fox at some point. He would be smart to do so.

Best part is we'll be playing well into febuary, so most if not alk the teams with HC vacancies will have already filled them by them

                        Hmmm.

                        1) Coordinate for another year or two and win a couple championships. Bonus checks pay your kid's way, as if that were a problem in the first place. Retire.

                        or

                        2) Coach in a hell-hole like Cleveland, New York, or San Diego. Retire.

                        Which sounds better?

We perceive them to be hell holes but that may not be reality. Even if they were I could work in a hell hole for $5mil a year But I hope you are right, I would like him to stay long enough to build orange crush #2.

I was thinking the same thing but who knows. I heard Alfred Williams and D-mac saying that after Chip Kelly, Jack Del Rio is the hottest head coaching prospect out there. Of course I dont have a link becuz its a radio show but you better believe that teams are gonna be bothering the Broncos for permission and hopefully it dont pose for distraction in the playoffs.

I dont think JDR is in a hurry to move on to a HC spot. I think he still stays here for at least one more year. Ad more players into this defense and watch out next season.
