This. Spent many times defending Knowshon from my ex-wife's relentless complaints about him.

    • One of the duties of an offensive lineman is to cover plays downfield and peel defenders off of ball carriers. NFL officials are very bad about not blowing the whistle when forward progress is topped. Knowshon had four defenders trying to strip the ball. Manny couldn't stop because he arrived at the pile as the whistle was blown. Blockers and tacklers must break down to make a tackle or a block. Things moved and Manny got flagged. It wasn't stupid on his part; it was just something that happens in the course of a game. If nothing else, he helped stop the play before the ball got stripped.

We've had Joe Flacco's Trisomy 21 like face plastered to the side Sports Authority in preparation for the "rematch of the year," The MANNING BOWL, the largest point spread in Dallas ever, Peyton's return, Shananhan's return, cold in Foxborough, and every match-up in the division. If I am exhausted I can only imagine how the organization feels.

That being said, Andrew Mason's "Manning, Titans and the What-If Game" article and the local media's hyperbole over Manning's response to the "what if" question this week has taken it all too far! It really is scraping the bottom of the toilet bowl to propagate this ridiculous notion that Manning wishes he played for the Titans, that he owes them something, or that he is to blame for their struggles this season.

If you're not aware, the premise is set by Manning being asked about his work-out with the Titans before choosing the Broncos. In the typical Manning diplomat like way he responded that the Titans were a first class organization and recognized that he hated leaving them in limbo over his decision as he knew they were wasting time and resources trying to recruit him. He also, in a roundabout way, very delicately implied that he would have liked to have played for all teams for a year because they were all such great organizations. The response from 104.3 The Fan's "Morning Show" was "does Manning really even like Denver?" analysis.

And now, this Andrew Mason article which implies that the Titans are blaming Manning for their struggles because they wasted time on him and the "But the Titans would like to show Manning that he missed out on something" premise.

So the lowly Titans come to town for their what-if Manning was on our side /cry "REVENGE" game! Everyone get hyped! The battle of the century...Fitzpatrick versus Manning I! AND...it's going to be cold...uh ohhhh...could the Titans beat us at home? It's on its way....why isn't this game on paper-view? And this is Coach Fox's first game back since his aortic valve replacement!!! OMG..I can't take it! The Chuck Pogano had cancer Chip Kelley is the greatest coach Russel Wilson for MVP Belacheat is cheating Brady wears Uggs Knowshon has be biggest tears ever COLD OUTSIDE BOWL begins this SUNDAY! YEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!

Or, the Broncos are going modestly beat the Titans and Manning will politely shake their hands afterward while the Borg like talking heads get to work on next week match-up to over hype!

The media isn't just in the reporting business, they are in the selling business, to get people to pay attention to their product. And every week, in order to sell the product, they look for "hooks" to get people's attention.

They should get no more attention than such a hook deserves. Blow them off.

                This.

As far as the Manning "what if" article...If you clicked the link, then job well done by Mase. That's all reporters want.

                • What else are they supposed to do?

"Don't Bother Watching the Broncos/Titans Game This Week, It'll Be a Blow Out"?

They are in a business of getting eyeballs, and that means making everything seem way more interesting than it is.
