  • how about Shannon being the best tight end

I always thought Dave Casper was the best..But Shannon tore that up.. And I'm sick and tired of hearing about Tony Gonzalas(or however ya spell his name..who cares)
Lokk what Shannon did for Denver..Baltimore..(he tore us up!! that year) and for the position!! I also thought Russ Francis was a great one..But Shannon owns them all.Stats don't lie.

My fav receiver!! of course Steady Eddy- Ed McCaffrey.. What a work ethic!!

Until someone gets more yards & catches, Sharpe is the Best. He's a future hall of Famer and one of the great Bonco leaders.

sharpe is the greatest TE of all time, i dont think there's any question about that. i dont care what ppl say about gonzales or shockey or todd heap, i just wanna wait and see how well they're doing on their 14th year (most likely retired) if not, then slowed atleast.

All the others are want-a-be's until they put up the numbers. Shannon not only has the numbers, but also has three superbowl wins. That also speaks volumes.

Sharpe is still putting up numbers...

shanon is an awesome TE ... i cant beleive he is still going. He still comes up with the big plays ... and constantly is contributing the numbers .... and not to mention his leadership. Dont be suprised if we see shanny go around for the 15th time

Since it doesn't really look good for another Super Bowl this year.......(I'm sad about that), I am really hoping that Shannon plays another year. I love him and I want him to have ONE more ring!

The last 2 years Tony Gonzalez has had better numbers than Shannon. Granted last year Tony played 3 more games than he did.

This year, Tony still has better numbers with the same amount of games.

Denver has to contend with QB problems.
Tony has to contend with KC having Dante, and Priest to hog the ball.

General consensus outside of Broncoland is that Tony is the best TE in football. Or at the very least one of the best.

              I'd be happy with either.

                Shannon is the best

Check your numbers again!!Sharpe's are pretty close..and he played 2 less games lass year!! Shannon has been around a lot longer than TG..Plus he is NOT the only weapon on the team..Numbers don't lie. I'm not saying he's not bad..but he's no Shannon!!! Two years is nothing ...since there is a big age difference. ..(plus Sharpe was Hurt!!!He should have better numbers.) There are alot of factors ..If I had my choice I know who I want.
I am also a Dave Casper fan..till Shannon. He's almost on the longivity level as a Jerry Rice. He has or had to share the spotlight with guys Like Terrel Davis. John Elway,Rod Smith,Ed McCaffrey,Clinton Portis...just to name a few Who is Tg sharing with?/1 maybe 2 guys and for how long?/ He should have better numbers..
Be awhile before I'm convinced..then remember Sharpe will be in the HOF!!!!! Something that is not kept..is toughness..Sharpe rarely not makes the play..oh well we all have our favorites. twice as long twice the stats...

Since Shannon has already put up the numbers, he has nothing to defend. He can only put up more numbers the longer he plays football.

The same argument could have been made about Terrell Davis and it was made that he could have been or would have been the best running back in football. One injury and that ruined him being the best back and also might keep him out of the Hall of Fame even with the numbers he put up in the short time he played.

The same could be said about Tony G. at this time. He has to stay healthy or he will not be one of the best. He is in the top 4 at this time, that can be said. As for the future he needs not to get injured for long period of time, otherwise the numbers he puts up now will be forgotten.

Shannon is already there... He is the best. Gonzalez, Shockey, Heap still have something to prove.

If it is third down, I want Sharpe in the game...

That's my entire point, a football player had to stay healthy. Even with some injuries to his knees, Shannon has learned to play through the pain, be a leader and that is why he has the numbers and that is why he is the best tight end in football -- bar none.

The others they must stay healthy and then we will see what they can do. They might be able to claim they are the best for the year, but the all time best without a doubt is Shannon Sharpe and they others are reaching for that goal.

all football/basketball players play through the pain but some injuries are just too severe. shannon has been lucky enough to avoid serious injuries

That's so true and who knows whether Gonzalez, Shockey or Heap will. That is why some of the Chief fans on this thread can only hope and we Bronco fans can know...

                            Horseface,

I can agree with you this time on the numbers with Tony G.

We do need to take into consideraton this is Shockey's second year and Heap's third year and this is Tony's seventh...

Tony G. is the best TE in the game right now.I do feel that Shannon will probably go down as one of the best ever. However it's Kellen Winslow who is the best to play the TE position.
