    After being on the team 2-years he is listed behind a rookie LT and a FA RT. That would make him the inferior choice. At the beginning of the season, many had thought he would be the starter at RT. His poor pre-season play made the best choice to go with a FA.

      We had two back to back games. It takes time. Lets see him against the lions. They'll have time to properly prepare for them.

        As hard as it is to believe, we could have started Max Garcia until the player that had no offseason program, no real training camp and didn't get any reps during preseason is really ready to play.

          If Mathis was 28, and had signed a multi-year contract, then yeah, sticking with him is the obvious move.

          If he was an immediate contributor, then yeah, play him.

          If he's 32, only here for a year, and won't be proficient until game 7 or so, then maybe starting Garcia is the right move? This team is built to win after Manning. I think the youth movement might be the way to go. Mathis can still mentor as a backup, can't he?
