That would go a long way towards the future.
It would help attract Free Agents..

if not this year, next year.

Seeing a protracted holdout over this contract would be crappy.
Seeing Von miss all of camp would be crappy.
seeing Von sit out some games.. would be crappy.

    Don't be crappy.
I agree! The last time von missed quality time he cam back over weight and wound up tearing his knee up. I doubt the broncos or von and his agent want that scenario to play out again

    Soon.
Joey Galloway wasn't an exclusive franchise tag recipient, he was a guy with a valid contract who was holding out, back then the rule was that you had to report by week 8 to get credit for the year. After that the NFL changed the rules, the new date that you have to report to get credit for the year is at the end of August.

After that season the Seahawks gave him the "exclusive franchise tag" and then traded him to the Cowboys for 2 first round picks.

It's not going to get ugly, my response was to your notion of a holdout, we he really can't do because it won't change anything. The Broncos will take care of him, he'll get his contract, but there's no need to do it now when they can wait until everything else dies down. His agent will know that and Miller will know that, it's not a lack of respect, they just know they have him, so they can focus on other more pressing things right now.

In fact I wouldn't be shocked if Elway called him after putting the franchise tag on him and told him something along the lines of: we'll take care of you, but we have other things we have to do first, so we'll do it in June or July, just relax, we want you as a career Bronco, and we intend to show you that.

It's not going to go up between now and June, and the Broncos staff is busy looking at free agents and preparing for the draft. Miller isn't going anywhere the contract will still be the same in June as it would be if they signed it tomorrow.

We have zero evidence to suggest that any of that would happen. Especially since it wouldn't matter, he's an exclusive version of the franchise tag. If they don't have a deal by July 15th, then they can't negotiate again until after the season (by league rule) but Miller can't wait for another team to approach him, not going to camp, holding out, missing games, won't change the situation in any way. So the agent won't let it happen.

With that being said, what's the rush? The Broncos have him next year, he's not going anywhere, focus on doing other things now and then after the draft they can start talking to him.

He's signed up for Dancing With the Stars, so you know he's going to be staying in shape, and whether he signs the franchise tag, doesn't has a longterm deal or doesn't, he's still doing Dancing With the Stars, so he won't be at the start of OTA's anyway.

The new players we will draft are going to look up to him during training camp too. If they come here and we have no leaders to show them how it is done, we will have a problem.
