  • I will give Bill Belicheck* some credit, if Norwood would've been on his team after muffing two punts, he would've cut him already. Last year he cut that guy who muffed a punt in our regular season game that Cody Latimer ended up recovering.

I would have benched him but apparently Kube is being stubborn as usual expecting a different result every time he tries the same thing. Refer to the endless rushing attempts that come with loss of downs and yards.

I just want to know which draft guru hired this idiot? I don't think he makes the roster on any NFL team. I bet if we had NO returner and just let punts wander into the end-zone or bounce around we'd still come out on top!

Norwood made two major mistakes in a critical game - alone. I can completely understand how a player or two may get emotional and shove or smack the top of his helmet...these are competitors. Talib showed Norwood that he felt he took it too far and apologized today. Norwood should have felt like crap...his one mistake if it was not made could have changed the outcome.

        • Hopefully this doesn't get flagged or come across as trolling, but many people, including the coaching staff must have been blinded/encouraged by Norwood's Super Bowl return. To be honest, it was kind of a bone headed decision to not call for the fair catch and stumped Carolina so badly, it lead to a large return that I can't believe he didn't score on. With an offense that we all knew would be suspect, bringing in a skilled returner should've definitely been a focus in the offense. With all of the undrafted RBs and speedy guys, I think we definitely needed to find a specialist and make a roster spot for him. Norwood clearly showed he's not that guy Sunday night.

OMG, I said the same thing today. CAR thought it was a fair catch so they stopped. It had nothing to do with him.

              • Kubiak did not bench Norwood because there's no one else to return punts. The #2 returner on the depth chart is Sanders, who just happens to be our best WR. If Kubiak puts Sanders back there to return punts, I am sure this wise fanbase would scream at the head coach even more. It would be something like this:

"Get Norwood out of there! We need another returner, anyone but him! Norwood sucks!"

"Sanders?? Really?? One of our best players?? What is this coach doing?? Sanders will get hurt! Fire Kubiak!!"

Norwood is there because there isn't a better option on the roster. Sadly. The other punt returner (Sanders) is a key part of the offense. The other guys are even more likely to muff a punt.

This roster does not have a kick returner. It also does not have a punt returner. It only has mediore "fair catchers". No one can field a kick and make something happen (unless the coverage team stops playing like the Panthers did in the SB).

Or he could have put Sanders in there and told him to just fair catch it to protect him from getting hurt.

I hear you, but that's no way this team should only have one qualified returner, especially when that guy is average at best. If he was a stud, okay, but he's not a stud. There are star players that return kicks, so it's no unheard of. Personally, I can't believe we didn't find a speedy, under the radar guy....something like the speedster that changed the game for KC on Sunday night.

I've been saying the same thing since that PR in SB50 happened. That was luck because they thought "fair catch" and it caught 4 or 5 Panther defenders out of place. Leaving 6-7 to beat. Those are good odds in a punt return situation.

That's hard to believe, and I hope it's not true. I just checked the roster on http://www.denverbroncos.com/team/roster.html and I don't know how accurate it is...but: We've been carrying six WR's on the roster and now we have seven. We have five CB's on the roster. We have four Safeties on the roster. That's fifteen guys. So, OK, maybe you don't want WR1/2/3 or CB 1/2 or Safety 1/2 doing returns. That's seven out of fifteen guys. And honestly I don't think putting WR3 out there is such a big deal because we don't seem to have one that we couldn't afford to lose. But you also have to pick a guy who is going to be on the active roster, so scratch one of the WR's anyway if you want. So...six out of fourteen guys that you don't want to put out there. Norwood is the best out of the eight guys left? That's a huge Special Teams coaching fail.
