  • The Good Thing About a New Coach...

Well in addition to fresh perspectives and new schemes, teams with new head coaches get an extra week of offseason workouts as well as an extra mini-camp. So the QBs will get more time coaches to work on their skills. The o-line will get more time to gel. etc.

So if the Broncos do keep similar offensive philosophies (Shanahan coming in or Knapp being promoted) in addition to not having a steep learning curve, they'll also get the chance to get more installed ahead of training camp.

If Phillips remains the DC, they'll get the extra week to refresh things in their minds (and work on run fits) and they'll be able to hit camp at full speed.

Now if they get a completely new philosophy on both O and/or D then these things go out the window and they'll still be teaching, but if there's some continuity in the things they do in 2017, well the extra time should benefit them quite a bit. Especially the developing QBs.

That O-line needs all the work that it can get.

New coaches can refresh and invigorate, especially if the LR has a positive outlook on the selection. And in this case it is more likely to be a positive, because Kubes is leaving, not fired. Sometimes a firing can split the LR, because lets face it, many times when coaches are released, it was not all about their wrongdoing.....and in fact, some players are torn over it.

I am eager, now that we know that we have to move on, especially if a new HC can improve our O. Imagine how good we can be if we tweak the D as needed, while scoring more points every week!
