Based on his accomplishments and trajectory, he should be a lock. When you dominate like he has, especially last season where he starred on the biggest of stages, he is glowing with greatness. The SB performance will not soon be forgotten!

Yes, the only deterrents are serious injury and/or an unexpected decline in performance.

Not yet but keep playing like you are(or better if possible) and in 4-6 years then I say yes.

On track, but needs to keep playing at a high level AND the Broncos need to be a playoff/SB contender during the remainder of his career. Overcoming the Bronco bias has a lot to do with media coverage - the more voters see of the Broncos succeeding and Von leading the way, the better his chances. That's a big problem the other Broncos of the Elway era have. The voters just remember Elway from that era and think everyone else was just a supporting player. Von needs to be the star and in the limelight. It sure helps he was obviously the best player on the field during the playoff run and SB last year. Do that again at some point, and he's in.

TD accomplished more in 4 years than most RBs accomplish in a career but due to not having the longevity in his career is odd man out year after year.

If he plays out this contract at the level he is now then I think he could very well be a first ballot.
    agreed

If he stopped playing right now than no he is not a HoFer

Von is my favorite Bronco, but it's way too early for this conversation. Let's say he plays 7 or 8 mores years, and then we have to wait 5 more after that? We're talking 10 to 13 more years lol. I just hope TD, Atwater, Mecklenburg and then Champ Bailey get it in asap.

Not yet. Von is trending in that direction and has a long career ahead of him. It would help the team and Von to have more help at DE and NT. Broncos were missing some of the interior pass rush they had in 2015.

He might need another SB ring as well if he doesn't get those other accolades. But I think he is on track for the HOF if he keeps his head on straight.

He needs to have at least 1 season of 20 sacks. 18.5 is his top thus far.

The reason I put them in the same group is because they're all within 4 years of each other. And depending on who plays longer or shorter and who reaches what career levels, they could all be eligible within the same 2-3 year span.

As of right now they are the best of the best. Mack is clearly on Von's level of play right now. He's at a monster level without a Ware or Doom level talent playing opposite him.

If Von averages about 11 sacks per year for the next six years, that puts him close to 140 sacks. That's close to top 5 all time and puts him in the same ballpark as obvious HOF players like Julius Peppers, Michael Strahan, DeMarcus Ware, Lawrence Taylor and Derrick Thomas.

Some of it depends on the talent around him, too. Von has been fortunate to play with other good pass rushers like Dumervil and Ware who can share the burden. Hopefully guys like Shane Ray and Shaq Barrett continue to get better.

No, he is not. We won't know until 5 years after he is retired from football when he becomes eligible for nomination. Thus far he is on track but if he retired today, no.

With the amount of attention he gets from offensive co-ordinators in regards to pass protection, it's tougher to rack up the stats. He still has an effect on games, although it may not show up on the stat sheet, which HOF voters no doubt look at when reviewing the career of finalists.

A 20+ sacks season/sack record/DPOY would definitely help his case.

This only Watt is in Miller class playing elite seasons matter year in and out the other players haven't done that yet.

Only JJ though, has truly separated himself from the pack. But even that gap is narrowing. Von needs a DPLOY or the sack record to really set the wheels of that talk in motion. He's 5 years in and needs another 5+ years of his current level of production, at a minimum, to crack the top 5 All-Time sack leaders list. As long as he gets in that top 5 All-Time, he should have a great shot.
