He's either getting a mega deal from Washington or a tag, no way around it. Next year is when things get interesting if he's tagged this year.
That tag is supposed to be 34.5 million. I can’t see Washington doing that. They should probably know by now his price is only gonna go up as time goes on and once he hits free agency he is gonna make more than whatever he is demanding from them now. Maybe he doesn’t want to sign with them after all this? And his trade value would be crippled with a 34 mill tag.

NO!!!!!!!! We got to close the book on Paxton!!!!! Vance Joseph takes entirely too looooong to make a decision, the last thing we need to have Paxton in the mix in next year's QB competition. I hate that VJ needs the whole world to chime in before he'll make a decision and he cares too much about the player's feelings! He needs to be like Belichick and not coddle the players. VJ is a players coach that has gone too far.

I mean it's really not that sad. It happens. Teams have down years from time to time, we've just gotten spoiled by the fact that we typically aren't one of those teams. It happens and we'll rebuild and bounce back.

        • I could call plays better than McCoy, seriously

We'd be running zone runs and bootlegs and screens and deep shots only

Under center 90% of the time

Janovich would get 2-3 touches a game

It's not what plays they decide to call (although they need to be attacking an opponent's weaknesses to succeed), it's about execution.
Which also comes back to coaching. When you are seeing one or two players failing to execute, that's typically a player issue, when your entire team is struggling to execute consistently, that's a poorly coached team.

So true. We are definitely used to at least being in the mix for most of the season. Basically being out of it half way through the season stings for sure. It will be an interesting offseason, though!

                  1. Start Osweiler. See what happens.
                  2. If the season gets out of hand, and by out of hand I mean that we are mathematically eliminated, put Lynch in.
                  3. Get the best tackle possible in the draft.
                  4. Get a pass rush specialist in the draft.
                  5. Try to retain as many of our good defensive players as possible.
                  6. If Lynch sucks, sign a quarterback, and if it's not a big name (which cap will probably dictate) give Kelly a chance to compete.
I agree with this. I would get another LT too, when Bolles went down we all felt like the season's protection was going to be gone.

I'd rather get a average vet for one year so we can have a 1st, 2nd and 3rd round pick to fortify the OL.

There is a huge reason that instead of being sad when McCoy was hired as the Chargers HC, many of us were giddy and excited. We new he was a terrible OC and would make a terrible HC. Nothing has changed since that point when we were raging about how bad McCoy's play calling was week in and week out. The only difference is for some reason, now people have it in their head that he was always a good OC which is revisionist history.

                      True Frey

Osweiler is launching it into triple coverage on a deep post? Why is he doing that? Marshall getting burned on 1v1 coverage by Trey Burton? Why is he covering him? It goes on and on

                      Falls on coaching.

                        Agreed Frey

Knew this would be a mistake. I've criticized McCoy for years. This guy has always been awful. Anyone could've seen this coming. Don't know how he gets the respect he does

Yep, when we constantly hear how good the practices are, but then they never translate to game time, you have to wonder what these coaches are seeing that makes them go "we're ready to compete". First the Special teams stunk, then the offense, now the defense is having problems, so you have a whole team suffering in all phases. I can't put it all on the talent. The seat should be a little warm from here on out.

If they don't tag, we need to tamper big time lol!

Von should call Cousins. "I've heard our front office will give you the deal you want, *cough cough cough cough* come play for us"

                              Well said

Vance is a PR weakling. "Yeah we look great in practice"

Nobody cares Vance, you're lying and your guys know they don't look great in practice because they're getting stuffed in games.

I know it's better to hold accountability behind closed doors but this dude's press actions make me think it's all berries and fruits behind closed doors

                              • After this season:

                                1. Draft a RT

                                2. Draft a RG (move Leary back to his natural LG position)

                                3. Leave other teams trash with those other teams (release Donald Stephenson & Menelik Watson)

                                4. Draft more quality o-linemen for depth.

                                5. Let Lynch and Kelly battle for starting QB (release Siemian & Oz...possibly draft QB and sign a 'quality' vet)
