No, I am saying that if your house is on fire don't spend your time worrying about the design of your rose garden!

If a team is a house, the quarterback is the foundation, framing and roof. So yea, we should be worried about the QB.

      • Joe throws a pretty, catch-able, accurate ball even under duress.

Let's keep him. I like Joe. He is not the reason we suck on offense. I don't know why we do suck but it's not because of Joe-Joe.

News flash - we need a good QB. Good QBs aren't available for 4th rounders. You have to draft and develop one.
Clearly Elway thought we were a QB away

Broncos has only ever drafted one QB that has won a playoff game for us, and a more vocal number on this board hates and belittles Tebow. This fantasy that Drew Lock when healthy will be our saviour, like Chad Kelly was, like Tom Brandstadter was.... is absurd. Lock fell to the mid 2nd round, lower than Osweiler, lower than Brandon Weeden that Elway was said to like a lot.
C'mon, that doesn't mean anything. Russell Wilson was drafted in the third round of that same 2012 draft--does that mean he can't play, or that Osweiler and Weeden are better than him because he was drafted later? No.

Most draft projections had Lock as a first-round pick, and many had him going early in the first. Many people thought Denver would take him at #10 overall. Would you feel more confident in his long-term prospects had the Broncos taken him there instead of 30 picks later?

Lock has skills and experience that made him a desirable prospect in the NFL. Doesn't mean he can play, just as his draft position doesn't mean he can't. But he is most definitely the most promising QB the Broncos have drafted since they picked Jay Cutler. He may or may not prove to be the answer but he has enough potential that we should give him a shot and actually see him on the field in an NFL regular-season game before we start saying it's "absurd" to think he might eventually be a long-term answer for this team.

Elway thought we were a lot of things away. That's why he brought in a new coaching staff, and multiple other players as well.

Exactly this! As a player, Elway is without a doubt one of the best to ever play. As a GM, he is rotten to the core. We may as well have McDaniels running this team for how its imploding......

The guy who was running the ship when we won 5 straight division titles, won a Superbowl, went to another SB, and built arguably the best offense and defense in NFL history. Rotten to the core is a pretty strong choice of words?

Not really. The reason the team won those division titles and the SB was largely due to Manning coming to Denver and the treasure chest of FA's that came along. After Manning retired, the drop off was significant and JE hasn't a clue.

You mean Elway the guy largely responsible for bringing Manning? The guy who convinced Manning to spurn his old stomping ground Tennessee, San Francisco, and a bevy of other teams? The drop off after Manning was a 9-7 season, where we were in playoff contention until the final week of the season, with both our HC and starting QB missing time during the season. It's fine to say Elway missed big on VJ, but you can ignore the fact that Elway had to hire him only because Kubiak had health issues.

We lost our Hall of Fame QB and have yet to find another one, something similar happened when Elway retired, it was 4 years and 1 playoff appearance after Elway and before Plummer.

Did people honestly think we would keep on rolling and winning division titles after Manning retired? It was obviously going to be ugly for awhile.

While Russell Wilson and more had their height against them, that is not the case for Lock. While all misjudged Tom Brady it is extremely rare that top QB talent is drafted later than about #11 in the draft historically. Lock's college production showed that he did not win when it mattered. His combine showed that he was not very accurate with ball placement even in shorts. His highlights from college showed that he threw pretty passes when not under pressure.

The whole thing which is sad with the hot for Lock crowd, is the failure to acknowledge that there is not anything that Lock seems able to do that Joe is not better at. That you use Jay Cutler as a good example of promise is telling. It very quickly became obvious with Jay was a significant downgrade from Jake, and that while he had a great arm, he would never be a consistent high performer.

Mitch Trubisky was the first QB drafted in 2017 before Mahomes and Deshaun Watson. Draft position isn’t a good indicator of future success, though I’m sure you know that.

We have no idea what Lock’s career will look like until he plays a significant number of games, just like nobody could predict Mahomes was going to be a future superstar. Lock might be terrible or he could be great, won’t know until he gets out there and plays.

                            • People can say what they want to about Flacco, but he's not the issue for us so far through 2 games. He's actually been one of the few bright spots on this team.

That go-ahead touchdown and 2-point conversion were amazing, gutsy throws on his part. He just doesn't have any talent around him. Not saying he's a hall-of-famer - just saying he's been good so far.

Did Lock really need to go on IR? That might have been a mistake by Elway because he cant practice with the team while on IR. If this season gets away from us fast and we are let's say something like 1-7 or 2-6 at week 8, Lock wont be ready to come in right away.

We absolutely at that point need to see what he can do, because this draft is supposed to have a few top end QBs. We need to see Lock in as many games as possible at that point. But, because Elway wanted a roster spot in preseason for a never heard of him guy, Lock's time this year will be limited. Why cant Elway see this strategic stuff a couple of moves in advance?
