He really isn't. I have no idea how this became so widely believed by so many Bronco fans. Given that he plays the most important position in football and is currently at or near the bottom of the league by most meaningful metrics, he's almost certainly our biggest problem. Just as Keenum and Siemian were before him. There's obviously many other issues with the team, but he's clearly at the top of them. The Flacco apologists kind of blow me away to be honest. It just seems that many Bronco fans have decided to live in denial when it comes to our QB woes since Manning retired.

    • That is insanity - the defense is an absolute abomination....how anyone can not see that is baffling......

The defense isn't great. But there's another thread for that.

In reality, they weren’t all that great last year, and are probably about the same this year. Everybody had high expectations, thinking Fangio would bring them back to the 2015 level, though that wasn’t realistic, considering they are starting guys they got off the waiver wire.

Flacco was a terrible fit for this team on so many levels. But, he hasn’t played bad enough to lose us any games yet, had we got a few bounces/calls go our way, we’re at least 2-2 right now. I have a feeling his terrible game is coming though, after that happens, everybody here will be ready to move on from him.

No point crying about it now, Flacco is here till at least the bye. I just hope we get to see Lock at some point, it’ll feel like we’re finally moving forward again.
That sums it up for me too. To be sure, it is not Flacco's fault for being signed, and it's not his fault we are 0 and 4. But, and I feel like this is the same theme from the last year or two.....we need to determine who "the guy" is, or at least, is going to be. Because we can not trip on this important facet for another year. Wasted draft picks, subpar team performance, coaching changes, questionable decisions, etc. You have find out if Lock has the right stuff, even if he does not excel in year one.

If we fail to learn more about him, going into next season, what have we gained? Flacco is a book mark for this club. He has on a page, and beyond that page we are in uncertainty. So why not get a feel for what Lock has, under pressure. IF he definitely does not have it, it will affect a lot of what we do going forward, yet again. And one thing would be drafting another QB, and then, even with luck, that may take a couple of years to pan out.

Lets not push back the problem. Lets either go with youth, go after the best QB in the draft (if we are even in that race), or sign a good vet....and that does not seem likely to me.

          Lets just do it!!!

heres what would have played out had we simply played Lock ( had he not been hurt) and what will play out when he plays

there will be a slew of posters who already made their minds up, just like the ones that hate flacco and blame everything from their dogs getting fleas to every loss

they will condemn lock for every bad play, every loss will be his fault, every TO the reason we lost, drafting him proves Elway cant draft...on and on and on
these boards will continue to be split, without any resemblance of objectivity...we have become a board of whiny, crybabies and theres nothing changing that until we bring back wade, draft a instant HOF QB who plays like a 28 year old peyton manning, who never thows ints

Of course there will be differing opinions, but that's not the point and it really doesn't matter. Can's point still stands, regardless of whether or not message boards are cheery while it happens.

The fact remains that Flacco is neither a good enough QB to win with us now nor young and talented enough to be our future. The sooner we figure out if Lock checks either of those boxes, the better.

he was good enough to give the team two 4th qrter leads with 1:31 and :31 seconds left...with one game the refs gifting the bears 15 yards and a extra second ...the fact is with a good defense...NO MATTER WHAT ELSE TRANSPIRED IN THE GAME...the flacco led offense gave the defense a lead and we should expect the defense to close that out!!

the fact is you cannot admit that shows that what I said is true

he im all in on Lock...but there guys already with the pre hate that is shown to flacco sitting here ready to dog lock

                  • To offer a counter point to your "the defense is terrible" we're middle of the pack in scoring defense, we've allowed one point less this year than the Kansas City chiefs. 10 points less allowed than the 2-2 raiders, we've given up 2 points more than the 2-2 browns, we've allowed 3 points more than the 3-1 Seahawks, the 3-1 saints? We've allowed one more point than them...

Y'all are hell bent on saying "but flacco have us a late lead" had flacco scored more than a handful of points, the defense is doing well enough that we're in the same ballpark with winning teams.

The difference between us and the Kansas City chiefs right now is literally that they can score points on offense and we cannot.

So quit feeding me this "he scored late and got us close" line of garbage. If he'd have put up points, the defense wouldn't have had to have fought as hard as they did all game.

                    • I think what hes saying is Flacco got us in the lead at the end of the game. The defense couldnt hold for a short time . 200+ yards on us on the ground didnt help , nor did the anemic offense .... .so your both right .

Sure, the defense needs to improve, but their flaws aren't new, we've had issues down the middle with rbs and tight ends for years now. The anemic scoring offense is making their issues more glaring than they have been, especially once the defense starts getting gassed.

While this is clearly turning into an insanely biased Flacco hate thread, it is absolutely asinine if people actually believe that it is Flacco that is the problem. This is the result right now of ProFootballReference's expected points.

Had the offense played with an average defense and ST then we would have won all four games.
For the defense we would have lost all four by an average of 25 points/game

                          8.29 -16.92 1.51
                          13.75 -21.04 -6.29
                          8.29 -27.33 -2.94
                          14.91 -35.30 -3.66

                          45.24 -100.59 -11.38

It is sickening to keep reading repetitive posts from the same ten negative posters that all have their axes to grind based on some obscure parameter taken from thin air.

Offense in the first four games last year was -1.25, defense -24.69 and ST +6.98

The whole hate parade is just ludicrous.

So being 26th in the league in scouting and averaging 17.5 ppg is good? That's enough to get it done in this league? Being in the bottom ten in the league in offensive scoring means the offense is good and not a valid concern?

Got it, we have low standards around these parts.

Good to know that being completely discontent with 17 freaking points or less every game is an "axe to grind"

No - sorry, but the difference is that the Chiefs traded the No. 27 overall pick, a third-round pick and their 2018 first-round selection to move up to No. 10 to select Mahomes and we got Bolles. The Chiefs are riding a historically great offense much like we did with Manning in 2012-13.

Our offense is not thought to be a top 5 unit - and the money have not been invested there. Broncos were build to be a defensive team with an offense that could get us the lead in the end.
