He's probably going to be horrific here, but lets see how it plays out.
Keenum had a knee injury all year as well, injuries or not he hasn’t been a good player for at least 4 years, no esxcuses for Flacco or Keenum, they suck, they are middling talent and we need to go big and stop with this middling stop gap crap....

And we will, this is a bridge to that. Zero doubt we draft a QB in this class or next year's or both with intention of replacing Joe.

I keep beating this dead horse with Joe - BUT look at BOTH 2016 and 2017. In spite of every thing (a bad O line, receivers who dropped passes on him and an offensive coordinator who had no brain), Joe drove the Ravens back into the game lead in the fourth quarter of the last game of BOTH seasons (in 2016 against the Steelers and in 2017 against the Bengals) only to have the Ravens defense LITERALLY - LOSE the game (and a trip to the POST season - both years). In 2017 it was literally on the LAST PLAY OF THE GAME. Watch 2017 defensive collapse -

So if the Ravens defense held - Joe would have had the Ravens into the POST SEASON two more times (that would have been for a total of 8 of his 10 pro seasons).

Joe is the ONLY quarterback in the NFL to have beaten the New England Patriots in the Post Season - in New England in the last 10 years - and he did it TWICE. And if it hadn't been for Lee Evans it would have been THREE times.

In 2011 season (the year before the Ravens won the Superbowl), Joe drove the Ravens offense down the field in the last minutes of the 4th quarter of the AFC title game against the Patriots (in New England) - only to throw a touchdown pass into the endzone INTO Lee Evans hands - only to have him relax and have the ball knocked out of his hands for an incompletion. If Lee Evans had held onto that ball the Ravens would have been in the Superbowl in 2011 (played in FEB 2012) instead of the Patriots. There was a possibility that Joe could have had two back to back Superbowl victories. Judge it for yourself - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIH-GrnnPVM

That play cost the Ravens a trip to the Superbowl!

In 2014 in the PLAYOFFS (in New England) against the Patriots, Joe gave the Ravens TWO 14 point leads during that game - only to have the Ravens defense lose the game playing their idiotic prevent defense against Brady.

You got a very good quarterback (and a new Broncos fan - me). I pray god you only use him correctly. Hes a winner

        • Either way we cut it hes gonna be the starter going into the season. We can hate it , love it or be so so. Let the season unfold before we start Lynching Elway and Co.

Last game of the 2016, [email protected] Flacco closed the 1st half down 17-3 with an interception from the 2 yard line for a Bengals touchback. 2nd half drives: Punt, Downs, Punt, Touchdown, Downs and Interception (Mallett). The Ravens were down 20-10 with the last touchdown drive. Flacco did not lead the Ravens to a fourth quarter comeback.

Last game of the 2017, [email protected] Flacco led the offense to seven punts in the 1st half. The Ravens finally scored a FG after a Bengals fumble followed by a TD after an 87 yard kick return. At the half the Bengals were leading 17-10. Flacco opened the 2nd half with a drive and an 89 yard pick six. Bengals 24-10. Flacco brought the Ravens back with two TDs and a FG drive to take the lead 27-24. The Bengals went up 31-27 and Flacco had two more possessions: Punt and Downs. The defense wasn't entirely to blame for the loss - the offense had seven punts in the first half and Flacco threw a pick six. Not to mention the first half TD was a gift with the 87 kick return. There was a lot more to that game than the defense giving up a TD late in the 4th quarter.

            • I think he is the best (Legitimate NFL starting QB) we have had since 2015.
He actually beat the Patriots in that playoff game, it was a bad call on the TD pass that was called incomplete.

TBF he was talking about the 2016 Christmas Day game against the Steelers where Joe did in fact lead the Ravens on what should have been the winning drive only to have the D once again choke and give up the winning score in the final seconds. For all intent and purpose that was the final game as it knocked them out of playing in the tournament. The Bengals game was meaningless.

Think what you want but Joe is a clutch player who knows how to win. It’s not his fault that the Ravens did not provide the resources for him to reach his full potential.

RE: The 2017 game with the Bengals. The Ravens were up 27 to 24 with 50 seconds left and the Ravens Defense gave up a 4th down touchdown to the Bengals for the loss. By any reasonable standard Flacco won that game - EXCEPT that the Ravens lost that game with an unbelievable collapse.

I grew up with the Baltimore Colts of the 50s and 60s - and I heard many many times Unitas say to reporters that "statistics are for losers". The only meaningful measurable is WINS. Joe has a career win loss record of 96 wins and 67 loses (I'm doing this from memory and may be off a couple of games).

He's won 10 of 15 playoff games including a Superbowl. He's taken the Ravens to the playoffs 6 of 10 seasons (not counting 2018 which wasn't his). If the Ravens defense hadn't collapsed in 2016 and 2017 he would have taken them to 2 more playoffs. He should have had a second Superbowl (in 2011) except for Lee Evans (I'm sure you saw that link). Joe is a winner and he can get the Broncos to where they want to go - IF THEY - UNLIKE BALTIMORE - use him properly.

Joe IS NOT a "west coast" type quarterback - which the Ravens have been trying to make him since Kubiak left as offensive coordinator in 2014.

I'm not trying to create an argument here - I am trying to reassure Denver that they got themselves a very good quarterback - who can take them a long way if they use him properly - and support him adequately.

This is the common theme defending Flacco. It's not all his fault however he's also played a role. In looking at the tape of his interceptions there are plays where he had a clean pocket and just made bad reads/decisions or inaccurate passes. If Flacco can get a strong supporting cast and play like he did in 2014, the Broncos should have a chance to return to the playoffs. That was his best season with respect to touchdown production. Hopefully we'll get that version of Joe Flacco.

The Broncos are to run a west coach offense this year.

Kubiak's offense is also more of a west coast than anything else.

I agree with the caveat that Flacco will need to protect the ball.

Elway could still draft a quarterback early or later in the draft. We'll just have to wait to see what happens.

Are you sure about that? After we trade for Flacco, Elway is still allowed the option to Draft a QB early in the draft? Or late in the Draft? How about the middle of the Draft?
