I know he’s going up against second and third stringers but you know what, the problem has to be corrected at some point this season and the preseason might be the best time to do it because there’s still a little bit of time before the season starts rather than having to do it mid season.
I think we all need to give Flacco more Credit because if Bolles doesn’t hold on that call, I think Flacco’s pocket awareness will allow him to step forward and complete the pass anyway However Garrett Bolles did not give him that chance.sigpic

This guy is going to cost us a game or two this season, and It’s better to attempt to correct the problem now.
Would Wilkenson or James be much worse than Bolles at that position!sigpic

Keep in mind Leary wasn’t at RG. Schlottman started and his issue looked more like how he’s picking up his block. On one play he was a step late - over time he and James would be able to get on the same page (if Leary weren’t coming back).
Pass protection wasn’t bad. Not great but Flacco made it work with plays like the one he made to Hamilton. On the intermediate route to Sutton the line gave Flacco enough time to set his feet and fire the ball.
A lot of heat on Bolles for the holding call. From watching the tape, there were more issues than the holding call. On an early run play he just got blown up. On another play he wasn’t on the same page with the TE and they both missed their blocks (toss left). There was another pass play where Bolles didn’t work the defender far enough outside which flushed Flacco out of the pocket too fast - defender had almost a straight line to Flacco. When Bolles is “on” he’s very good. The problem is the number of plays with poor execution.
Part of the issue might be the new offense, but Bolles was a big time liability last night.
