  • Season in jeopardy?

I felt very comfortable we would have football this year. The season was far away in March , as the months came and went things were looking better , places started to open up. Now we are hearing about fb players being positive , and just announced they're advising against joint player workouts . Is it just me or is this not a good sign?

Football season generates too much revenue. They’ll figure it out
    -Bronco in UT

While I both agree and disagree with many posts in this thread I have to lean towards champ on this one. Jay really needs to learn how to manage the game better, and also to learn that you don't have to go for the big play EVERY time on every drive. There is something to be said to check the ball down and live to fight another day. -Great Post Cut the Excuses out please. sigh...

    Helll of a post

Every American should decide their fate.

Honestly, I would watch college men play in Broncos jerseys.

There's still quite some time before preseason and the regular season. In Europe most most of the top football leagues have now restarted with digitally mapped crowds and fake crowd noise (which is better than you might think!)
The intensity of the games is also pretty good.

I suspect the NFL may not start on time but that the games will all be played, although mainly in empty stadiums.

at first i said no way the nfl doesn't go on with the games, now....i am not so sure if there will be any games played this year.

you all had better believe in the real possibility that this season is not going to happen

I’ve been on record for months saying I don’t think the season will happen in 2020. I haven’t wavered one bit.

They still may attempt a bubble without fans but I still believe as more cases happen many players will not want to. Same as what’s starting to happen with the NBA that I don’t really believe will come back next month.

It's all good. A little friendly cleanup happened on aisle 2.

Predicting and assuming at this point in history can only equate to..."Who knows?, Nobody knows." A definite "maybe" at best.

Everyone has to wait for the sun to rise the next day and see what, if anything has changed beside more sickness and death. Bummer!

I have a strong feeling there will be no season for us this year. I live near Olympia, the capital of WA and Thurston County has been experiencing a resurgence of covid cases soon after WA relaxed the stay at home order. In fact, I had to see my regular doctor about a month ago for something unrelated and she wanted me to come in for my annual physical. She actually told me to schedule ASAP because there is definitely going to be a resurgence of covid cases and she wanted to get my physical out of the way before the second wave hits. Don't know what the national stats are, but so far where I live, looks like she was right on.

If no NFL players had caught the virus up to this point I could easily see the league taking the, "our guys are too young and strong to get sick" stand and carrying on with the season...but...Von Miller kinda blows that argument out of the water. Besides the Bronco season in jeopardy, what bums me out even more is I'm a huge LSU fan and I doubt there will be a chance to see my Bayou Bengals defending their national championship

Numbers increased like crazy. Season starts when the regular flu season kicks up too....

Of course the season will go ahead and start on time, no question about that. I can see there being limited fans for the first half of the regular season (25-50%).

I know different parts of the world are slightly different and the states look like they are around 3-4 weeks behind where we are in the UK, meaning that you are around the end of the peak but high numbers will still be coming in. Look at the big picture, in 4 weeks your numbers will have vastly declined just like has happened in asia, europe, and australasia, and we will still only be around mid-july.

If Germany can resume soccer on May 16, and the rest of europe at the start of July, and Australia/NZ playing Rugby league for the last 3 weeks then I think the NFL starting in mid-September is a non-issue.

We over here get tons of news and 'experts' talking about it daily. The general consensus is the first wave was December and the 2nd wave was April, and that getting another wave is highly unlikely. As countries open up there will always be small outbreaks but with small number across most of the world life has rightly began to open up, and that includes sports.

I guarantee the NBA will start on July 31st, and the NFL TC and season will begin on time.

The question will be the % of fans that can attend and how long into the season it will be before stadiums can be full again.
