Somewhere in that mix we need either a pass catching TE or a WR to start grooming unless there is a trade waiting to happen that I don't know about.

From what I have read from some of the Broncos beat writers, drafting a qb somewhere in the middle rounds is not out of the realm of possibility. DB, DT and O-line are the other draft prioities.

    After further thought...

I've come to the conclusion that we should get the best available at either WR, OL, or possibly DB. I would be plenty happy with trading our 1st round pick as well. It would be useful to have an impact WR, but it takes 3 years for any wide receiver not named Boldin to make an impact. Just ask Lelie. Or TO. Even Rice didn't destroy in his 1st year. As far as OL, we have some good but old guys. Foster is learning the blocking scheme, and hopefully he'll pan out. He's big, mean, and should be a force. We need a backup center. The more I think about Mark Wilson @ Cal, the more I think he'd make a great fit. 300lb, fast, and smart. Never commits penalties. At WR, I can't tell who we'd be looking at. Fitz is gone, Reggie Williams will be the only Williams possibly around at our draft spot, and he hasn't shown me anything. All the hype, but so far thats been it. Mike Williams doesn't come out till next year. Maybe we could get a steal w/ a receiving TE late in the 1st round, but you all remember when the greatest TE in history was drafted, right? Thought so.

I forgot to mention that we CERTAINLY need a backup QB at some point in the draft. If that means first round pick or 5th, so be it. When the opportunity presents itself, we need to take it, or we need a Brunell type. Losing Jake cost us 3 or 4 this season, and we really need someone more qualified than JJ or DK to be our 2nd QB. A stud FS wouldn't be bad either, but I have to say I've been impressed with Nick Ferguson before the injury, love Kenoy's hitting, and am more worried about our nickel and dime spots. Our LB's are studs across the board. We should be ok unless Mobley can't play again or Gold doesn't recover fast enough a la TD. I love Trevor, love Berry, think Fatafehi has stepped up nicely, but we could always use a pass rush specialist if we are in the right position in the draft. Dave Ball from UCLA? Will he be on the board?

Interested in hearing all of your thoughts.

Hope fully it doesnt come to that, but it is a business. we shold draft rather average players and DEVELOP them into stars. Concentrate on keepingthe team we have now, in tact.

as far as Oneal, madise, cole and lelie, they ALL are inexperienced. Cole Oneal and Madise on the rise? they probably dont even have 5 catches between them. Cole is just a kick returner with blazing speed, but he cant run a route for anythig. madise might develop into something special, but still we have nobody behind him. oneal is not seasoned enough to be a reliable WR.
I don't know where you have been but from what I have seen and read about Cole is not that he can't run routes it was making the routine catches that was his problem. But this year he has started to make the routine catches. Cole's biggest problem is that he keeps getting hurt and that has slowed his development.

Its polyanic to think that Denver's FA's wont want big contracts. There is only one middle linebacker considered better than Wilson, so he is going to command a big salary. Portis has a contract but wants a new one inwhich he is paid top 5 money for his postion. Gold will be the easiest because of the fact he'll be coming off a major injury and other teams will be hesitant to sign him.

Where Denver will draft in the first round, unless they trade up which is doubtful they wont being paying their number one what the top 10 will be getting. Keeping the core of the team is important but if Denver can upgrade and get's some playmakers whether its offense or defense its they should do that. It might mean letting go of some players that you might not think would be gone otherwise. Don't kid yourself, Wilson is going want mega contract, and he'll get it whether its in Denver or elsewhere, because he is worth the big money. If Shanahan is wise he'll make Wilson and Portis his top two priorities and worry to much about Gold until he has those two signed.

Let Dropsie burn...MarTay Jenkins is probably in for 3/4 receiver. Besides, we've got Adrian Madise, Charlie Adams, Frank Rice and Nate Jackson lining up for the 4/5/6 receiver spots...

im sorry, did you say you wanted to draft a DT or DE? you dont think we have enough, especially with mcneal and eason coming back? anyway, i think it is more important to draft the position we need the most instead of the B.A.P. in the draft. we pretty much have evey position set for next year but we need to draft for FUTURE replacements in the next 3-5 years. a good time frame for development.

HELL NO! we keep all the players we have. we dont need a neccessarily good rookie now, but a decent one whom we can develop. we dont need any starting rookie WR now, we still have rod smith and ed mccaffrey and lelie. i'm talking about rookies for developing not, starting.

yeah he WAS promising when he got here running 4.2 and all, but inujuries slowed him down a lot. and i dont know if he will get it back. I still like him in special teams though.

all our starters shudl be back and for those who retire, we have adequate backup already. Rookies are just for development

your right i am not looking to replace them as starters, but who do they have as nickel/dime? middlebrooks? spencer? mcneil? oneal? we should train a solid rookie for backup CB positions
