No, its because its a long season and you will stumble one week...and if you dont...you will in the playoffs. Come on be real.
You MIGHT be the best in the league right now....although your defense is showing some holes....but lets not be stupid.

I am as real as it gets. And no - I don't think it is by accident. Destiny only happens every so often. You're watching destiny happen now in Kansas City. The bandwagon is filling up - better get a good seat while they last.

I am not sure how funny you all think your injury list is, but I guess there are a bunch of folks here in Kansas City that are getting a good snicker from it.

        Sorry I don't know everything.

I still believe that most reasonable fans of any NFL team dream of an undefeated season, but more realistically want a Superbowl win, regardless of record.

But have your prediction I guess. I still don;t think undefetaed is going to happen. 13-3 looks like a very good possibility, perhaps 14-2

Hey, the Broncos went 13-0 just a few years ago and I remember the bandwagon. Just remember, bandwagons don't win games for you.

The pressure mounts the closer you get. Mental mistakes occur more often and you start playing not to lose instead of playing to win. Bad teams start playing better against you because they can have a bright spot to their seasons if they're the ones to knock you off. Good teams play better against you because winning would validate their playoff worthiness. And old Miami Dolphins players sneak into your team's locker room and loosen cleats, sew weights into the jerseys, and sprinkle itching powder into the jocks.

In other words, there's too much to overcome when trying to go undefeated.

hey mastema...i was wondering when you'd show up here.

I figured it was only a matter of time. While 19-0 won't happen, I do think it would be kinda funny if KC went 16-0 then lost in their first playoff game. I mean...that would almost be as good as 1997. That had to hurt and the undefeated season then losing in the playoffs would just be perfect for KC. I don't think you'll go 16-0 in the regular season, ...someone will trip you up.

Im guessing that even the rest of the Chiefs fans are hoping this guy shuts up.
Mastema...make sure you stop back by here after the losses...not just after the wins and the byes. If you think youre going 19-0, then I would say youre not a very astute football fan.

Quick: Yes, thats the last ass whipping I recall. And I'm looking for him.

I guess dreaming is just what the Chiefs fans are used to. I dont believe any team can go undefeated in the NFL. The Bears couldnt do it, and Denver(someone refresh my memory, our first loss was to a bad Miami team that year wasnt it?) couldnt do it. And I agree with Javalon about the Dolphins sneaking into the locker room, that was funny. Look at the Vikings losing to the lowly Giants for their first loss of the season. Sorry Cheifs fans but I dont see it happening. In fact, if I were a fan I would want to lose a game or two in the reg. season. Why would you want to go into the playoffs undefeated? It just increases your % of losing in the playoffs.

And our IR does look like a roster, but thats how it gets played in the NFL. If we didnt have so many key injuries who knows how things could have played out for us. And just remember injuries, they can happen to anyone, incl the Chiefs, at any time, at any place. So you better watch the karma you are sending, it might come back to bite ya.

I fail to see the humor in this...I wouldn't wish that on a fan of any team. I was sick after the 97 loss to the Broncos, but it didn't hurt nearly as bad as the 95 loss to the Colts in the playoffs.

Having said that, I don't think our playoff performance in 1997 has anything to do with the 2003 Chiefs any more than the Broncos Super Bowl wins in 97 & 98 have anything to do with your team today. Too many things change.
Despite all the hype, once you finally get a hammer, you don't hammer nearly as much as you think you will.

                    yeah, that would suck.

Yes, I agree, after 5 or 6 years in the salary cap era, you usually have a roster turnover that is so drastic that it is a compeletely different team.

Jerry Seinfeld used to talk in his stand up routine about football fans. Something like they don't really cheer for the team or its players, they cheer for the helmet "yeah.......good play!" Same player, same play, diffrent team next season after a trade "Booo....bad helmet...Bad helmet...that group of helmets is the enemy!"

                    Funny stuff.

Yep, that's funny. But I still cheer for most former Broncos to do well when they leave, just not when playing the Broncos. Olandis Gary is a guy I wish would do well. And Steve Atwater when he went to the Jets, poor guy. But I didn't really pull for Romo when he went to the Raiders.

I tend to feel bad if they were traded or cut, and I understand free agency, but I don't feel quite as badly about that. If they choose to leave, so be it, but I think it gives me the right to not cheer for them anymore.

Seinfeld was right, I AM cheering for the helmet!

13-3???? who are they going to lose to???

The Vikings lost to GB, who lost to the Chiefs...we've beat Den so we can beat you again, I'm not scared of any team left on KC's schedule...16-0 is just as attainable as 8-0.

in the NFL, it happens that the better overall team does lose to a lesser team. It happens. The Chargers could beat you. I am not predicting it, but it is not impossible.

You could lose to Denver or anyone left on the schdule.

Vermiel may rest some starters and play backups, knowing full well that it might mean a loss. That would affect the outcome of a game.

I certainly didn't suggest that you should fear any team. Just being reasonable. Parity works. Undefeated is always possible, but 13-3 or 14-2 is much more likely.

Exactly. Just look at the Broncos-Chiefs game earlier this season. We were the better team (before our injuries) and we still lost.

(Sorry...couldn't resist a little jab there)
