Im sorry to make a thread about this, im sure there is a few on the subject. But what was wrong with the pass interference call against the patriots on saturday that everyone on espn is still talking about. Samuel blocked off lelies path to the ball that was catchable. I didnt see how it was offensive pass interference like everyone i heard talking about it said it was. I think the patriots are just trying to make up as much as possible to make their loss not because they ran into a better team. But i honestly didnt see any problem with the call, maybe it was a no call but in no possible way do i see how they could have flagged asheigh on that play.

I totally agree with you...the funny part is...they are watching the last party of play...they aren't even taking into consideration that Lelie got bumped and pushed about 15 yards before the clip starts...there is a no touch rule beyond 5 yards...Lelie was pushed out of his route well after 5 yards, and he was ridden all the way into the endzone...but again...the media doesn't want to see it that way...

That's the beauty of Lelie!!
That most fail to recognize!
Probably because he hasnt been able to do it much this until that play.
But he draws the call! And he does it while actully making the infraction!!
It was hard to tall at the game, but when I watch tape, Ashley is clearly guilty! The refs screwed up. It should have been either a no call, both fouled, or a call on Lelie.
But again, that's one of the assets he brings to the game. The ability to draw the call on the defender, even when he's guilty himself.

You are 100% correct J. Lelie gets a lot of Pass Inf calls because of his ability to get open on the deep ball. He was the one that should have been called, but when the game is at full speed, the refs have to go with what they see. There is no instant reply on flags.

Last year they would have had flags flying from every direction.
This year the No bumpee, no touchee the colts receiver rule has been greatly relaxed.
Remember it was after the first big loss to the Pasties, their owner, the head of the rules committee railroaded the change through.
BTW did anyone else notice that ashley was pushed out of the way at the very end of the play? Had to flail the arms to keep his balance.

i completelty disagree jwinn ...lelei has a right to go down the field,,,the defender cannot impede the reciever...if lelie moved into samuals path it was offensive, but he didnt, samual as he looked back, he stepped into lelies path slowing him and crowding, with samual forcing the contact.....now if samual kept his eye on the ball you might say he is also a reciever and youd be right ...but he didnt ....so all he did was cut into the path of a reciever which is a no no....defensive pass interferance cut and drysigpicwhen do native Americans become human and not mascots

But for the fact that Ashley had his hands all over Asante. He clearly pushes him, and starts his act of being the victim.
Again, it's not the first time Lelie has managed to do this. I feel this is one of the reasons he keeps the number 2 job here. Not only is he a deep threat, but he also draws the penalty.
And really, if we get the yards by catch or penalty, we get the yards. Thats all that matters.
This play deserves much more watching. It can easily be called either way, but I see Ashley drawing the penalty like he's done in the past.
And I hope he does in the future!

It may have been a tic tacy call, but come on I have seen us flagged for far less.
Also I want to know why that player was not ejected from the game , because in his rage about the call he clearly grabs the official and that it a big no no?
Also again nobody mentions the blantant holding that happened on a couple of NE's big offensive plays, just the calls that did not go their way.
