Really if you want an image program that will do just about everything you should get Adobe Photoshop. It's pricey and definitely a professional level program, but when you learn how to use it you can do some amazing things.

There's several other image-editing programs. A couple of the most popular are...

            PaintShop (pro)
            LView (pro)

            But, really.... Photoshop rocks!!!

                  Photoshop is about $600.

It is expensive, but you can get a discount (i.e. the academic version) if you're a student or teacher or have some affiliation with a school of some sort. You can also search for "used software" on the net (eBay???) and find people that are actually selling their old software (licenses and all). You don't need the latest version of Photoshop. I use 7.0 and it's fine (not that much different than 6.0 or 5.5 or version 4.0 for that matter.)

Something else, unc69it - - If you're mostly going to do cards and other types of stationery things then Photoshop might not be for you. You CAN do those types of things in Photoshop, but it's mostly for effects, layers, vector graphics, etc.... whereas a program like PrintShop has all kinds of built-in card-like making features.

                    done.

First it would be "est" and no la...

                              Secondly, I personally dislike photoshop.

Third, it might not be your software program of choice, but when you are given one for free, you use it.
