    Kick Returner

I definately agree. I think it is silly to still have D-Will returning kicks. On our depth Chart the punt returner is D-Will and the Kick returter is Mike Bell By the way there are only 4 corners on the team. I still think we should go and get somebody who only returns kicks. Forget about having a 6th WR. Somebody like say Marcus Vick. Oh by the way Watts has never been on the practice squad. So he is definately eligible.

I think everyone see's the what Watts could potentially be. He has the tools to be a better reciever than Adams. Although, you are right Adams has done more for the team. Especially ST's.

cos he has been the single best WR this preason...

(im not counting rod, javon or marshal...)

Oh yeah! Eddy was an outstanding pick up, for obvious reason's. Why can't Kircus be that guy? He has never been given the opportunity until now. As, he was stuck behind a few highly drafted reciever's in Detroit. The Circus seems to have the knack, as did Ed, to get open. Also great hands. And, don't count out Marshall. We were extremely lucky for him to fall to us. Give em a chance! They might live up to the potential.

Watts was not going to improve our receiving corps, except maybe by doing double duty on Sundays. In addition to being inactive, maybe he could have brought the active receivers gatorade to help them stay hydrated.

Instead of hoping that a reciver suddenly learned how to catch a ball, Shanahan went and used 4 of his 8 draft picks on wide receivers, plus decided to give a sandwich maker a shot. You never know, he might turn out like another number 87 that was cast aside by his first team as someone who wasn't NFL caliber...
...that I'm also underwhelmed in regards to our WR depth.

You look around the league.....the best teams have a 3rd receiver. Chris Henry, Stokely, Reggie Williams, Cedrick Wilson or Nate Washington in Pitt, Eric Parker, Patrick Crayton, Bobby Engram, etc.

We have, as silk said, a bunch of unproven special teamers and a rookie.

If one of our big time receivers goes down we'll sign somebody before we let one of these guys take over a number 2 or 3 spot. If we're gonna have crappy guys on the team at least change who they are from time to time to keep me from getting bored!!

Other than Rod and D-Will, he's the only guy with any real game-time kick/punt returning experience. I have a feeling now that we cut the roster down to only 4 CBs that they won't be using D-Will much returning kicks, just a feeling. I'm sure we'll try to keep him healthy at CB where he is much more vital.
Your absolutely right! Ok, I am feeling better about this I think you are also right on the money with D-Will. And, I hope you are. Although, I think his return game is what made him one of our picks. He proved to be an outstanding rookie, along with Foxworth. They have solidified the CB postion, and we can not afford to lose that talent to a PR or KR.

-Darius just wasn't going to be the #3 guy this season. With the way Brandon Marshall and David Kircus were playing in camp, they pretty much locked up #3-4 early, IMO. This puts Watts at #5 at most.

-Both Devoe and Adams contribute on special teams, something that Watts does not do. So, we have a #5 WR that probably will never get on the field as a WR and doesn't play STs, either? Sounds like a waste of a roster spot to me, and apparently it does to Shanny, also.

This week, we'll see which of the roster cuts get re-signed by other teams. I think there will be several guys with new homes (Dayne, Calico, and Warrick come to mind) but it will be interesting to see if anybody takes a chance on Watts.

I'd be willing to bet he won't get picked up and will end up in someone else's traing camp next year. This will tell you something about what the rest of the league thinks about him, and I've got to imagine, he's not even given a second thought by most.

Wow, I had to work yesturday when the cuts happened. Then had to spend time with the lady I couldn't wait to wake up this morning and see what happened. Wow, did I get slapped in the face! The coaching staff was really talking up Watts, through all the camps. Great off-season, and this and that. What the hell happened? Shanny must have something up his sleeve, right? Although we have had unexpected good things out of Kircus. And, probably the best WR Shanny has drafted since he has been here in Marshall. What did Watts do to get cut? Is he going to try and make a play for Branch? Mike please give us a little insight, here?
