  • Cover Safety

I always hear this term thrown around alot.

Im wondering whom the experts here would consider the best "cover safety's" in the NFL.

Im guessing the way Roy Williams got lit up in the Dallas/Hawks game that he isnt an example of one????

    Brain Dawkins.

    Adrain Wilson

    Troy Polumalu

    Bet the best safety....nasty hits....great person=John Lynch

Your right he's more of a hard hitting safety like John Lynch and Sean Taylor.

I am no expert, but I consider Ed Reed and Troy Polamalu as some of the best cover safeties around.

But Ed Reed when healthy is a beast.

But look what happened, we ended up with Javon in the long run

WOW, are you kidding me? That sucks. Can you imagine having John Lynch, Champ Bailey AND Ed Reed on the secondary. I don't even want to think of it anymore.

It makes me feel sick knowing that's how it could have been. Teams would just want to run the ball all game long.

I would say the best cover safety is easily Polumalu. I don't think any other safety can impact a game like he does.

Everyone keeps saying Polomalu, but i disagree. If you watch steelers games he is basically like Lynch with a little better coverage skills. he bites on play fakes and tends to want to hit more than play in coverage.

He's very dynamic but not the best in coverage. I love the way the guy plays though.

Troy is not a good example of a cover safety.
