  • Mcmanus makes elway look smart so far this season

he carried our team this game, but this season he is 11 of 12, and he is easily looking like one of the best place kickers in the league.

Weird title, but agree that he is one of the best place kickers.

A couple of years ago people here were calling him "McMisses" and wanted him gone.

Pretty much our best "offensive" weapon this year.

Spending bulk resources on offense and pushing out this putrid attack, Elway is hardly looking "smart".

Lmao!!! I love how this board falls silent after a win. Then people come and make such constructive responses... it's clear that peoples expectations and their reality vs the actual reality of the situation are the problem. Expectations of perfection in such a competitive league are laughable. Y'all just waiting for them to lose next week to another great team (teams weve lost to are 14-2 and we were very competitive in 2 of those games) so you can make your negative posts and fire our entire organization. Instant gratification or we will turn over every spot after every mistake. Sure we settled for 3 points instead of getting 7 which is concerning. And the play call/deep ball at the end of the game doesnt seem like the best option in that scenario. But we moved the ball well today. Lindsay looked great. Lock had time to throw. The rookie te and his chemistry with lock were instant. Lock has been hurt and only had a couple practices. If we score a couple Td's this game was put to bed early. I do think they can get better in the red zone. Then you can look at the defense getting 3 turnovers our rookie corner forced 2 fumbles and the tipped balls were great. They had to break out their trick plays because their offense was stagnant. Elway found a way to bring back shelby and signing Callahan and getting Jackson at safety have been good signings even if Callahan was injured last season. Kinda like bouye and Casey this year. Both good signings on good deals for what we gave away. Plus our salary cap going forward looks good. This draft is proving to be another successful one if you give them more than 5 games.... just ridiculous how much y'all love to hate. This board is hard to tolerate at times.

And in direct response to this thread. Giving McManus an extension was a very good idea For The Brand!

Goochmaster has been our clear cut MVP so far this season. His play hasn't leveled off one bit after getting paid. Glad to have him....

Haha, yes @ 4:46 "the heart and soul of this team's offense, kicker Brandon McManus".

You might not like that some hold the organization to the standards that have been build over decades.

You go back and see how disappointed "we" were in Brian Griese, Jake Plummer, strangely not so much in Cutler who produced less than any of his predecessors, how short the leash was for Orton, how negative the narritive is surrounding Tebow, same with Trevor Siemian....
Mike Shanahan was fired with as many SB wins as loosing seasons.

We now have a setup with a young QB that doesn't look like he will match Griese, Plummer, Tebow or Trevor Siemian in his 2nd season, and we might be on route to the 4th loosing season which has not happend in the lifetime of most of the fans.

There is not much that works in favor of Elway at the moment!

And that is why I say our fans are dumb. We have all of these casual fair weather fans who literally have no clue about how to run a business or a football team. There are a few simple questions you can ask to weed them out.

Should the cowboys fire their staff? How about last year or the year before or before that- going all the way back to the 90s?
                        Should the colts? Eagles? Saints?

Next ask them (its been 5 years since we went from a HOF qb to not)- how many teams have gone from a HOF QB to a franchize QB in 5 years?

Next ask them about teams like:
                        Jets
                        Browns
                        Dolphins
                        Titans
                        Chargers
                        Bears
                        Lions
                        Bills
                        Bengals
                        Giants
                        Vikings
                        Bucs
                        9ers
                        Cheifs
                        Eagles
                        Redskins
                        Seabirds
                        Texans
                        (Over half the league lololol)

The answer is all missed on QB after QB after QB. Many are still searching. The ones that are not, still suck. The few that do, are playoff teams- and of those playoff teams ALL WENT MORE THAN 5 YEARS. But they wont give the broncos 5 years. Then they like to say we cannot find a QB. We loved Wentz, We loved Dak, We loved Herbert, We loved Mahomes, We loved Baker. We were never in position for any of them aside from Dak. So that is a miss. EVERY TEAM has like 5 misses at QB at least. Somehow we are bad at it when we are right in line with the league.

They have no answers, except to move goal posts and find stupid revisionist history to cling to. As I have said- our fans are dumb and very knee jerk (at least the casual fair weather ones that have no clue). The die hards understand this.
                        So far:
                        FA- Melvin Gordon. Brandon Scherff
                        1. Kenneth Murray LB; 2. Shenault WR; 2B. Biadazz Center, 3. OT

As usual, the coaching play call is still suspect, IMO. Two examples of many. Twice we had the ball third and two near the Pats 30 yard and both times we threw it to a WR in the end zone. I think we had a much better chance to continue the drive focusing on the first down and ultimately scoring 6 points instead of 3 points.

And, it appeared all of our hand the ball off rushing plays were basically straight up the middle. No imagination.

Until the Broncos' win on Sunday, Belichick-led teams were 39-0 against teams that don't score a TD.

We did that ~30 yard line throw again later only that time it was not 3rd down so probably does not stand out as much.

It was obvious to me something was scouted and we tried to exploit something that we could not execute.
Time to build on the win and grow the team from some solid play higher level of play
