Sadly, I don't see any change coming. I'm not trying to dump on Elway, but we seem to be a team just thrown together without a solid direction. From a personnel perspective, offensively we've seemed to go with young speedy talent. However, we don't have the coaching or play calling that makes the most of it. Instead of building an O line (which many would've preferred), we drafted WRs early and have 2 non blocking, pass catching TEs, they built a pass happy offense, I'm assuming to suit the offense Lock can execute well. However, the play calling has been terrible. Lock is young, but doesn't seem to really read defenses or progress quickly with his reads. The offense play calling should be made to make that easier. Shurmur's play calling continues be subpar. We constantly waste 1st downs on horrible runs or pass plays trying to get chunk yards instead of picking up shorter passes to get manageable 2nd and 3rd downs. Maybe that's on Drew being greedy, but coaching should address that ensure it's corrected.

With so many playmakers on the field, this offense lacks creativity and misdirection. Very few audibles, motioned receivers, screens or creative formations. Lock doesn't seem to be able to run an NFL offense. I really believe we need a college offensive coordinator or someone with creative schemes. Shurmur just isn't the guy. I don't know how he gets so much credit for the Giants and Daniel Jones.

Defensively, we've played pretty well. I have to give Fangio credit for that, but for the 5th year in a row, the offense is subpar and little has been done to really change things.

I would like to see some change as well, but Im not sure Shurmer is the issue. We have the players to run Shurmers vertical offense but we just can't get them the ball.
I would like to see what a guy like Fitzpatrick could do. Not only to help the offense now, but to try and salvage something from the path Lock is heading.
Lock is young and he can improve, but he needs a QB that's better than him to compete against. Fitzpatrick has been lauded for his work with young QBs.

The development of our other young guys is just as important as the development of Lock at this point. I would like to get someone in there that can jump start the offense.

Changing quarterbacks, coaches, and coordinators every year or at the first sign of trouble is what got us in here in the first place. I officially have serious doubts about Lock's long-term ability, and I wasn't a fan of either the Fangio hire or the firing of Scangarello and hiring of Pat Shurmur. But unless Elway is going to be shown the door along with everyone else (and that won't happen given his $30 million salary next year), then through next year at least they have to make the best of this situation.

    2-4 Requires Change

2-4 in just unacceptable. Time for yet another Change. Time to Fire the OC who is King of 3 and Outs Still Calling Long Bombs LOL when it is 3rd 4 Over and Over and Over No wonder why he got fired in NY LOL. Time to fire our Awful Special Teams Coach he has a proven track record of just producing the Worst Special Teams ever a 102 Yard Kickoff Return for a TD come on. Time to Bench Drew. Drew is just not the Answer. At Least With Rypien he can accurately throw the ball Drew has ZERO accuracy. Time For Change in Denver Broncos Country.
Working...
