Nope! He's a tight end. It's totally different.

Hard to show something when you can't even get a chance to do so.

Exactly. If we had drafted an ILB in the 2nd round, he probably would be starting over Jewell and Davis, because the staff want to see what they have in him. Yet Elway is very hesitant to admit his mistake in Flacco, and because of that Lock's developmental year is wasted and we'll go into 2020's draft without a single clue where this team is at in terms of QB.

Then draft another quarterback, sign another veteran to “win now” while losing in embarrassing fashion. It’s almost beyond comprehension.

          • It's so ironic that it really comes down to this: Elway is claiming Lock isn't ready cause he’s just a rookie.

But so is Noah Fant. He’s playing. And he’s clearly not ready.

Heuerman has had 5 years to be the teams starting TE, he didn’t play his rookie year.
He caught 9 passes in his second year and
              9 passes his third season.seasons.
Caught 31 balls and 2 tds.

Fant has 15 catches and 1 TD in just 7 games.

I would like to see more from Fant at this point.

Fant is playing because, Butt can’t stay healthy, Heuerman hasn’t produced in 5 seasons, Fumagali & Beck aren’t as good,

Drew Lock isn’t ready because he got injured and fell behind.
Things would be different had been stayed healthy and been the back up Qb.

He was not good in preseason.

The same would apply if Fant started the season on IR and now was working to come back.

No one is really clamoring to have Heuerman over Fant. The argument is that the only way Fant becomes an elite player is if he gets his reps in now. This is exactly how a rookie QB gets his experience. This season is over, why are we wasting it on Flacco? If Lock sucks, ok fine, we were going to lose with Flacco anyways. Now we get to draft a QB high. But if you play Flacco to week 14 there's no way to know what Lock is and subsequently you either waste the picks to get Lock or miss out potential franchise QBs in the draft.

You are totally missing the point. YOUR own point, or your standard for Lock compared to Fant. Let me repeat:

You are claiming Lock isn't ready cause he’s just a rookie.

But so is Noah Fant. He’s playing. And he’s clearly not ready

"Drew Lock isn't ready to play, so he isn't going to see the field or play"

"Noah Fant is ready to play, even though he isn't really ready" as seen by gameday tape (easy drops, subpar blocking, penalties, etc).

So as asked previously by another member - Since Lock shouldn’t play until he’s ready, why aren’t you applying the same standard to Fant? He hasn’t shown he’s ready to play. Shouldn’t Fant learn how to block and catch the ball before being on the field?

Even funnier is how IR works and Lock can’t play because he was injured, but apparently he should be starting ( scratching my head)

Maybe the team thinks he isn’t ready because:
                            - Lock looked lost at times in preseason s 2nd and 3rd stringers.
                            - hasn’t practiced for 2 months.
                            - oline struggling to protect qb

Fant hasn’t been on IR and hasn’t played well. He’s had multiple penalties and blocked poorly. He’s turned the ball over and dropped a lot of passes. Lock improved in each game during preseason. Fant hasn’t improved over seven games. Playing a washed up veteran for the rest of the season only delays the development of Lock. Elway can continue with the status quo. It’s not working and the 2-5 record backs that up.
