Finally, a league source has confirmed for us that the Broncos had a much better deal on the table before picking linebacker D.J. Williams in round one of the draft. But once Gold and his agents, the Postons, thumbed their noses at the Broncos, no one else was willing to come close to what Denver would've done

Looks like Gold and friends shot themselves in the foot.

Yep, I think this is the year where the loud obnoxious athlete gets the smack down. If you look at guys like Keyshawn and Owens, you can say that they could have made alot more money if they just kept their damn mouths shut.

in my thread 'gold going is gr8' ppl jumped on me and said that he has served the broncos well and we should wish him luck but im annoyed at the fact that he had the money and the team but left anyway - did he h8 denver that much?!!!! (im glad winslow and poston are not in bronco country)!!!

I don't see how you can hate Denver. It's a great city with a great team and the Defensive Cordinator was the former linebackers coach. How can you not like that situation?

thats what im saying - we offered him the money - we have a gr8 team (a stronger one than TB IMO) and he had gr8 team-mates so WHAT made him go?

The Poston's are terrible. Slowly but surely they're ruining their reptutation in this league. Check the Gene Upshaw statements in that article. Upshaw says they try to tell these players about these guys, but they continue to trust them. Amazing.

I don't blame Gold. I blame his agents. They conviced Ian he would command more on the open market than Denver was offering. A realistic agent would have told Ian to accept Denver's offer.

God, we could still have Gold and one of the top defensive linemen in the draft. Thanks a LOT, Postons!
