Totally agree about Paton, he didn't really get to do a whole bunch of things this offseason. We brought in some good players,Bridgewater isn't the long term solution, and a sixth round pick minus Tom Brady's 1 in million run, wasn't a waste to get a Vet that can run our offense. This game could give us more confidence for the future, next year, as well. We don't even have to win to see if some of this young talent can progress.
Hey, what I understood was that Paton tried to acquire a good QB this offseason, and failing that, took a small chance on Teddy, given his assessment of Lock was probably not too wonderful. It is quite possible his assessment was that Lock may be young, but he is not a long term leader.....whereas Teddy could at least give us some possibilities this year. I do believe that Paton kicked the tires on Stafford, Watson (prior to the allegations) and Rodgers, but that does not mean he was going to sell the farm for any one of them. So he was restricted. And maybe he just did not love Fields or Jones or any other QB, after the 2nd pick of the draft. That's his prerogative.

Anyway....we are mathematically well into the race, so lets hope the guys get some reward for their effort. But come offseason, expect some noise.

(trivia.....Broncos are 8 and 4 against The Cowboys....sometimes history has a way of impacting things)

In a number of years I've seen teams with no business being involved at mid season, ending up in the playoffs. In fact, I've seen teams win the SB that I counted out at this point. Lets be clear, you need to have the ingredients to win, including players, coaches and so forth. And it does not look like we have that team this season. But momentum is a huge factor in the end.

But my deeper belief still revolves around next season and beyond. If Paton is the right guy, The Broncos will be fun to watch in years ahead.

I'll try to stop with side commentary, other than to say this....there was a time when we would ask folks to stay on topic, and they would. The title is not a definitive "orange coloured glasses" marker, but it is very clear the intent once you read a few posts. FTR, I am not an orange glasses type. I like some passion of course, but I am more to the middle of the spectrum when it comes to why I pull for a team.

So I will politely ask for us all to consider this as a more positive thread about The Broncos. Lets stay on that track thanks. Otherwise, well, I think there are a "few" other threads to employ your disappointment.

I don't know. Let's see when it happens.

Why do we have to give our reactions like a pregame pick?

Why are people posturing like segregation?

    Y'all are weird. :Goofy:

Really though, if we managed to beat a pretty decent Cowboys team, that meant a lot of things probably went right.
    But
If the cowboys kick 2 fgs into Shelby's chest pads, drop a sure int, and force two broncos fumbles on their final drive, I'll be a little sus

We won in spite of trying our hardest to lose, that's kinda special. The lack of discipline and focus is on the coaches, the final drive was an embarrassment. In the case of Fant, he just needs to go, he can't block to save his life (or the QB's) the pre snap penalties and the holding calls are unacceptable.

I will say the defense looked inspired, we won, yay...

If we beat Dallas and there is not a lot of reaction other than..."yeah but", then I think we can safely say that a number of members are either wedged into a place that require us to either fire some folks now, or play Lock immediately

    OR

they just want to keep things negative around here.

    Anyway...back to the positive stuff.

I BELIEVE PATON WILL RIGHT THE SHIP....

Barring a miracle winning streak and teams ahead of us collapsing miserably, we’re probably not making the playoffs as we sit here at 4-4.

The coaching staff will be gone, Teddy will walk in FA, and the 2022 offseason will clearly be a defining moment in our franchise to usher in new coaches, new players, and hopefully new ownership.

The win was super ugly, but it’s a W regardless. I imagine the players have been working very hard to get back in the win column, despite the underwhelming schematic limits. For our young core that has only really known losing in the past few years, any win will feel good and only contribute to the drive for more success. I worry about Jeudy and Surtain coming from a seemingly invincible college program in Alabama and being discouraged by all this losing… so just to see them playing a part in eeking out wins and being part of the core that should turn this thing around, I’m excited.
We are 4-4 imo because we have been more talented overall than the teams we beat. I even think we are more talented than the Browns. We just do not have NFL level coaching. In some areas I think we do have NFL level coaching but as a team we do not.

I think if we fired Shurmur there is a chance we could make the playoffs. Unfortunately the luck we used to get in the playoffs would run out and we almost certainly lose the playoff game.

    Good point.

I allowed the Jax playoff loss to really affect my live in a large negative way. I was young but it was not healthy. Since then I try to not let the Broncos get me down.

It does amaze me no matter what happens there are some people always looking to be negative. Even in our SB50 winning year we would see it on the forums every week.

I do think there are other explanations. Some people like drama. Some people are just negative people in everything they do in their life not just being a Bronco fan. Yea maybe some people masochist.

The good news is after the win last weekend and having got past the trade deadline, the players and position coaches are now playing for places next season knowing that they will have at least 9 games to prove themselves.

    No argument here.

I sense that the more disgruntled folks are taking over, and looking for an outlet to negate anything positive. They have a right, but in fairness to the people in this organization that are doing their best, we should occasionally find places, here and there, to show support. Like I posted before, Jeudy is back, Simmons had 2 pics, our D registered 5 sacks, but none of this seems to matter to some. Not every person involved deserves negativity, And by that I mean, why not post some threads that celebrate the good parts, even if they are not as obvious as one would like?

I actually started this thread because we had just won and nothing I saw on the first page of this forum looked positive. And then of course, some of it spills over into this little thread. Really! This has to include negativity as well???!!!

I admit, I am not satisfied with our run since The SB win, and I have made my views known. But in fairness to the team, lets take a little time now and again to salute those who are trying.

And on a positive note, I am still believing that Paton will right the ship. And I'd rather be going in that direction than be a team that is beginning to slide, with no evidence of change. Lets be fair, even the best new GMs don't walk in and make a huge overhaul in year one. They build based on a vision, and sometimes that takes a couple of years minimum.

Until change actually happens in Denver Broncos Country things like this will remain the same. It is sad when a Win still feels like a Loss.
I understand. I expect better this year. But there is hope (in terms of the playoff race and possibly from a strategic perspective going beyond this season), and I just think that when you win, not everything has to be about what's wrong. There are loads of threads for that.

As an aside, we have plenty of draft picks next year plus as of now, only Miami has more cap space for '22.

Anyway, why not spend a wee bit of time talking about a win, and anyone who played a positive role. Blaming the same folks over and over is fine, but not in every thread.
