Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

Anyone watching WR contracts blow up this offseason?
Patrick and Sutton deals look great now. Our WR core locked up for a while as other WRs around the league getting paid BIG TIME.
You make a good point. Timing looks great at this point. Yes, The WRs are getting paid this year. Essentially you could have equal receiver skills at a much lower price, at least for a while.

I think the truly great WRs will keep getting paid by their team. Maybe the QB cap number will prevent that (looks at Hill and KC)
The maybe situationally great WRs will still get paid but by another team.
What has already started happening is a lot of teams are trying to get college WRs to avoid paying the big contracts.
The in-between game will be interesting. WRs who are not having the "great" years but the salary goes up to something less than the WRs getting

It's possible that WRs are getting more and more respect right out of college, based on the numbers and the quality of late. Some truly outstanding WRs in the last few seasons, including Chase, Jefferson, Lamb and Waddle, to name a few. This year's crop could even be better overall.

Football people been talking for a bit about the amount of good WRs coming out of college. The theory is the passing game is more used so that WRs get more reps and come into the NFL more ready.
For example I do not think DT had very many reps when we drafted him. I think that was more common back in those days.
If Bonitto and Dulcich both become starters and Washington gets our return game back on track this would be another home run draft with all things considered.
A lot of guys didn't appreciate or understand the Washington pick but it made perfect sense to me. Our return game has been pedestrian at best for a LONG time and by all accounts he looks like a true return "specialist". Could they have drafted him in later rounds? We'll never know, we don't know who else was looking at him.
The fact that Paton was able to add a 3rd rounder to next year's draft was huge, imo. I think has done a remarkable job since he's been here and he can absolutely stay and "do more positive damage"
The thing about Washington that did not occur to me until well after the draft is that he may be the successor to KJ Hamler. The timing is right to bring Washington along as you develop a package of plays for Hamler, and then trade Hamler with one year left on his rookie contract for (hopefully) a decent haul with Washington stepping in on his own rookie contract. If you can keep finding these guys with 2nd/3rd day picks then wash, rinse, repeat.
