Plus, I don't want the Broncos to use up the entire cap space to pay a QB 50 million a year.
Preferably, I would want to find a QB in the draft and spread the money around at other positions.
Huge QB contracts make teams die a slow death via cap space until they are bled dry. IE...Ravens-Flacco Seahawk-Wilson Falcons-Ryan
If Hackett knocks it out of the park in the interview and has a strong plan for fixing the offense while asserting a vision for the defense and bringing in a promising DC, I'm all for it.
If 2-3 years of Rodgers means a Super Bowl, that would be worth it wouldn't it? Obviously it would be nice to find that young franchise QB that could lead this team for the next 20 years, but this roster is probably not bad enough to lose out that much to get a top pick in the next few seasons honestly.
Year after year, teams treat the cap like it's an imaginary thing... I'm not too worried about it if we get a superstar QB here. Most of our talent is on rookie contracts anyways. But I do understand wanting to maintain cap flexibility and be able to spend in FA where necessary. Smart teams don't give out fat contracts to mediocre or declining QBs. I'd argue that Seattle has been brought down by the terrible Jamal Adams trade and Wilson's injury, while not doing enough to build the roster in key areas.

All pro sports teams have historical "peaks" and valleys". Some peaks being very high and bright and some valleys being very deep and dark.
The Broncos are no exception and obviously they are currently stuck at the valley bottom looking up at the high NFL peaks and thus formulating a plan to start the steep, difficult and grueling ascent to revived greatness.....AGAIN....+ more.

We are probably two years away from making the playoffs again.
Think about it....We have to play Chargers, Chiefs, and Raiders twice every year and win at least 60% of those games to have a chance.

Some people are expecting a Tom Brady/Bucs type resurgence next year with Rodgers......Though, highly unlikely.

I may be wrong, but this feels like one of the most "amiable" periods in a long, long time. I think it should be, given the likelihood that many of us will be a little happier after the positions are filled. And as I state, there will be disagreement, but that's part of discussion. Especially with all the variables involved.
But if I can offer....this feels pretty good. Some discussion, some agreement, some disagreement, and some fun. Not much else you can ask for on a board.
