Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

george paton teams won 3 playoff games in a quarter century
And its also been talked about quite a bit. Under the conditions at the time there wouldve been no reason why they wouldve given paton a 6 year contract. If that were the case? Why would paton leave his job for this when he turned down others if that were the case?
guess we will find out
It’s entirely possible the Broncos and Paton have good reason to believe he will stick around when a new owner takes over.
I’m just not going to make that assumption.
It’s possible Paton just thought it was time to get his feet wet as the top decision maker.
i dont know because everyone's different ? aren't we judged in lives on our records , 24 years is quite a long time.
Paton has no record as a final decision maker beyond this season.
Plenty of underlings from successful teams have been hired to run a different team and failed miserably. I’m sure there have been many hired from mediocre or even bad teams that have gone on to do good things when given the chance to be the top decision maker.
Someone has to hire the coach, and it’s Paton’s job until it isn’t. I’m pretty sure it was Ellis that said a new owner is expected before the season starts. He shouldn’t operate as though there will be one though. They need to operate as though the power structure will be what it is now.

I dont know about that. I would think that ellis wouldnt have let paton hire a coach if that were the case

A new owner is likely to hire a new GM. Supposedly they expect a new owner this year. There’s a good chance this is George’s last year, unless he impresses the new owner.

you give paton as long as it takes until its proven he cant do the job. He was given a 6 year contract.
fair enough but it wasn't my intention to mislead , as per post #9 i was only musing on his record in pro football , what was it 10 years 97 through 2006 and he's still searching for a formula , there isn't anything particularly striking about it is all i'm saying .
ok should he be given a longer shake than vance joseph or fangio if the broncos fail to make .500 over any of the next three seasons ?
