With how often they called inside zone vs wide zone I think he should definitely be brought up. I thought he might be able to work in a wide zone scheme just because of his nasty disposition but and I’m not sure how much the knee bothered him but he didn’t look capable in the preseason. But I do think he’s fine for inside zone and even if it’s just subbing him in for Glasgow in short yardage situations or putting him in at FB so Beck can block from the TE spot it would be better than the whatever went on in week 1 around the goal line.

Tomlinson truly had an awful game blocking and I wasn’t impressed with his blocking in the preseason either. He’s known as a blocking specialist but as of now Im wondering if that’s actually the case or is he just a bigger slow TE being miscast as a good blocker. Obviously Glasgow has had an up and down tenure here, definitely not what we paid for, but Meinerz should be the answer there when healthy. Risner on the other hand, I’m not sure if he’s worth extending. To be fair for him, he generally starts the season slow and gets better and not getting preseason reps is probably only going to magnify that, but I’m just not sure he’s athletic enough to do some of the things we want to do offensively. The Cody Barton sack is a big example that showcases just how poor his movement is. I know people probably want to put that one on Cush as he actually recovered enough to get some rather minimal contact and for sure he has to recognize it quicker than he did, but Risner saw Barton twisting around to the A gap a lot earlier and couldn’t get there. Yes, Risner did initially double the edge rusher with Bolles and had to peel back but with how quickly he turned his head to see the blitz I would’ve expected him to get there much sooner. Wilson did both of them no favors either by sliding right into Barton’s path for an easy sack. The lack of athleticism from Risner on that play really has me concerned about his fit in the wide zone if Hackett truly wants to commit to that being the majority of our running scheme.

I might be being a little harsh though because overall the pass protection was pretty good overall. Wilson had plenty of passes where he had an incredible amount of time yet still got antsy in the pocket. And that’s with the right side being 2 guys who are supposed to be backups, so it should get better with the return of Meinerz and Turner.

I was very upset when we resigned Gordon. I think Gordon is a good RB but having him on the roster means coaches feel they have to get him touches. Javonte needs 20+ touches every game, and I hate Gordon eating into that. Gordon should only be available to give Javonte a blow, nothing more. This whole 1A and 1B crap kills the momentum of the offense, done with it. They should have let Gordon walk and let Boone play that backup role. Feed this man!

Maybe we should bring in Tom Coughlin to help Gordon and Williams. He helped Tiki Barber go from a fumbling machine to a guy who had great ball security and a top RB the last few years of his career.

Coughlin is toxic after the Jacksonville debacle.

Didn't mean as a coach or assisstant....just to teach a 10 minute class on how to carry the ball.

KLIS Tweet: MRI tomorrow will reveal extent of Javonte Williams’ knee injury but per source fear is it is serious and he will be sidelined for extended period.

Not good. Broncos officials are fearing the worst on Javonte Williams.

They'll probably promote Ozigbo, but I'm partial to Ronnie Rivers. I think he's on the Rams practice squad. He's probably not what they're looking for, because Ozigbo would replace some of what they'd miss with Javonte. Rivers is small, and he doesn't have the elite speed that a lot of smaller backs in the NFL have. He's a baller though, and he does a little bit of everything. He could be used as an Austin Ekeler compliment to Gordon, but there again, they'd probably turn to Boone for that role before signing someone off of another team's practice squad. If a RB more in the mold of Javonte is what they want though, Bam Knight is on the Jets practice squad. He has the utility as a receiver that Javonte had as well. Rivers and Knight should have at least some familiarity with the scheme.

I've seen some people throw Lindsay out there, and I honestly wouldn't be against that. I don't think our front office is very high on him. I think they want a back with more utility sharing carries with Gordon.

Just throwing some guys I like out there. Dreaming. lol.

Either way, if Javonte is out for an extended duration, we need to get comfortable with the idea that Gordon is going to get a lot of work. If Gordon can cut his fumbling down, I don't see him cutting it out entirely, he's still an NFL RB1. Hope for the best and hope it's nothing serious for Javonte.

Sorry but with him gone our season is over. It was over before but now it’s really over. I say let’s get some younger players and rookies more playing time now to develop them.
