2022 broncos depth chart

I decided to create a projected depth chart that can edited when needed. Links are to ESPN website.
I wanted to go through each position to see where we are strong at or where we need work.
Maybe have someone add some potential draft notes and such.
Understand, we are cutting down to 53 players eventually.
Hopefully, this will be a cool way to see how we stack up to other teams.
Enjoy.

As I look over this it's interesting that it could be argued that we have actually downgraded at several positions. Yet, because of a significant upgrade at one specific position, I see 10-12 wins with this rosterBring Back ORANGE Sunday!!!
Tim Tebow combines the intensity of Ray Lewis with the throwing ability of... Ray Lewis.

Maybe you have some reasons to project those players at their position/depth?sigpic

Browning may be moving to OLB, I'm not convinced though, he played fairly well at ILB last season for a rookie. I would project Browning rotating in as # 3 ILB, just my prediction though.

Browning has been considered an Inside/Outside Backer since his rookie year. He will most likely be in a rotation at OLB and provide depth at ILB. As long as Evero's run D isn't two-gap, the ILB reads shouldn't be so complicated as to hinder depth players stepping in.
We'll see what happens with Purcell. If he isn't released, the base D could see him at 0 with Jones and Jones at 4/5."Stultum est timere quod vitare non potes." ~ Publilius Syrus

We still have the draft and training camp to modify this depth chart....right now, we don't look as strong as I had hoped. This is just paper, and we need to see the pads on, but I'm hoping Paton grabs some players in the draft that contribute this season !! What ever happens, I just don't want to loose to theps I realize we need to finally beat the Chiefs........but I just can't take it when we loose to the dang

1. Randy Gregory won’t be a RDE in our system. We’re going to stand him up as a 3-4 OLB. Dremont Jones will be starting at RDE
2. Barron Browning showed enough to be a starting player.
3. I hate our corner depth. The last thing I want is Ronald Darby trash ass starting. If Pat Surtain can take a step as a shutdown corner and we can shade coverage to Darbys side he might be serviceable. If not that’s such a bad signing and contract.
4. Caden Sterns showed enough to be a starter next year. Hell be our SS . We’ll have versatile safeties like the Buffalo bills with Poyer and Hyde-Bronco in UT
While I both agree and disagree with many posts in this thread I have to lean towards champ on this one. Jay really needs to learn how to manage the game better, and also to learn that you don't have to go for the big play EVERY time on every drive. There is something to be said to check the ball down and live to fight another day. -Great Post Cut the Excuses out please. sigh...

There is also going to be a lot of different looks given. While 3-4 may be our official base defense we will probably be playing most of our snaps in some kind of look that involves an extra coverage player or two. I am not even sure if we will be lining up 3 guys on the defensive line or 4 most of the time.
Browning will be getting the most snaps of the ILBs this year imo.
I also think Sterns will get a shot to be starting Safety...will he win the job? We probably will not know for sure until preseason is going on. Not just Sterns there are several competitions about to happen.
Not sure who will be starting on the DL but the rotation should be one of the better ones we have seen in a while.Let's Ride!

There are certainly some roster additions that need to be made. IMO the most notable are Safety, CB, ILB, RB, TE. Along with some depth to account for injuries over the season.
Best thing is that depth chart looks good already. Paton will still be adding some players in FA and the draft. Those first 5 picks will be interesting to see how big an impact they can find to fill in that depth chart? Or if there are any more surprise signings as the cap situation becomes more clear.
I like where the Broncos are when I look over that depth chart.
Just for fun, do a draft simulation of just those positions I mentioned above with the Broncos first 5 picks. I have and am thrilled with most of the outcomes. Even if you disagree with my position needs. Run your own draft with your own. Happy?Last edited by FR Tim; 03-28-2022, 07:14 AM.

The five positions you list could be addressed in the Draft using Denver's first five picks (#64, #75, #96, #115, #116) as you say. Of those, the one that seems to me the thinnest is TE. Paton & Co. seem to do a great job scouting talent which will now be informed by a new coaching staff.
With the moves he has already made, Paton has set the table to pretty much take the best player available in the draft and to stay true to his board with out reaching."Stultum est timere quod vitare non potes." ~ Publilius Syrus
