  • Schedule release

Tomorrow the schedule comes out. Broncos are 14th on the list as far as miles traveled at 19,930 miles. We know the opponents....

Home - Chiefs, Chargers, Raiders, Packers, Vikings, Patriots, Jets, Browns and Commanders

Away - Chiefs, Chargers, Raiders, Lions, Bears, Dolphins, Bills Texans

As far as I know Denver does not have any international games. I'm going to go out on a limb and say Denver won't have 6 prime time games LOL.

We deserve 6 this year tho… two words : Sean Payton
    -Bronco in UT

While I both agree and disagree with many posts in this thread I have to lean towards champ on this one. Jay really needs to learn how to manage the game better, and also to learn that you don't have to go for the big play EVERY time on every drive. There is something to be said to check the ball down and live to fight another day. -Great Post Cut the Excuses out please. sigh...

    Helll of a post

Gotta disagree. As good a coach as Payton is, the Broncos need to earn respect rather than just have it given because of an acquisition (Russ, Payton).

The league gave the Broncos the spotlight several times last year and the Broncos embarrassed themselves, us fans and the league.

They need to start winning before being given the spotlight.

My predcition for the opener is a Sunday afternoon home game against Cleveland.

Two teams who acquired a big name QB last year and both have questions about if they'll end up being worth what they traded for. It's a storyline matchup that isn't as big as others, but it could draw some interest.

I'd like to open up on the road against the Bills. Get that game out of the way right away. Better chance we get them not on there A game early, plus, would be a lot nicer playing them in better weather rather than a 20" snow game LOL

Here's what I'd like to see:

              1) Not being the last game of opening week on a Monday night like it seems we are every single year
              2) Not having both our games against the Chiefs occuring in December / January like it seems we do every single year
              3) No Thursday night games (I hate Thursday night games)
              4) Very limited prime time games. The broncos have not earned prime time in the last 6+ years and last year showed you should not award prime time games based on assumptions.
              5) No Christmas or Thanksgiving games. I don't like holidays clashing with Broncos, especially lately. Seems I always come away disappointed.

              Very lofty wish-list, I know.

I get the earn factor but the NFL is ratings and interest from the public as well. Like it or not Sean Payton will drive at least one prim e time game.

This is true, but the NFL regretted it last year because we became unwatchable football 2 prime time games in, and they were very happy to get to the point of the season where they could flex us out of prime time. I'm fine with 1 or 2, but let's not load it up with 6 or 7 like last year based on an unproven hope.

My 1st week AFC West predictions.
I'm going to start with the easiest part of the prediction.
Since the Chiefs won the Superbowl, they will host the Thursday night kickoff game.
The NFL likes to kick off the season with some storyline and give the defending champions a challenging opponent.
Additionally, the kickoff game is usually between developing conference rivalries.
The Chiefs play the Bengals in an AFC championship rematch of the 3 pt. KC win.
Reason: Chiefs get to host by virtue of winning the Superbowl and the Bills were already in the 2022 Kickoff game.
The AFC West 2nd place Chargers host the Dolphins to open the season on Sunday night.
Reason: Classic East Coast/West Coast matchup and the NFL would like to build the LA base for the SoFi stadium.
The AFC West Raiders host the Patriots to open the season on a Monday late afternoon.
Reason: both non-playoff teams are rebuilding + the added drama of the Belichick/McDaniels faceoff.

Monday night football will be reserved for the NFC champion Eagles as they host last year's AFC 2nd-seeded Bills.

The AFC West Denver Broncos will host their Sunday late afternoon opener against the New York Jets.
Reason: Both Denver and the Jets are in a rapid rebuild with new QBs and the Jets got the QB that Denver missed.
Should create another AFC East-West dramatic build-up for later in the season
for both teams to become potential desirable replacements for Sunday night football games.

Per NFL twitter, week 1 is Lions vs Chiefs in the opener and Bills vs Jets on MNF.

Mine made more sense, but Okay ....
Since we can't play a Packerless Rodgers,
Maybe we'll play a Rodgerless Packers.
Maybe they should let me schedule the games ... lol
There they go messin' up a perfectly good scenario.
Sounds like they might be lettin' the Refs schedule the games ... lol

All I really care is the Charger game is a good week for me to see it and the Broncos doing enough to earn my hard earned dollars.

Honestly not sure if the NFL is worth my time and money anymore. Amazing how much life changes after cutting the cable/satellite TV off
Get ourself up, learn what we can and keep moving forward.
