Dalvin Cook was just released by Vikings

Broncos and Dolphins expected to have interest via ESPN

A stable of Cook/Javonte/Perine gives you an incredible backfield with multiple options in game planning and schemes.

All 3 are great receiving backs as well.

    I’d be all for it!

Cook is still only 27 which surprised me.

I don't see the Broncos interest unless Dalvin agrees to a totally restructured contract, which was one of the issues with Minnesota. Dalvin is not easy to deal with.

Cook's cap hit is 14 mill this year. The Broncos have like 11 mill in cap space.

Don't see it, but we shall see. Dolphins makes more sense.

Payton was just quoted recently saying you can never have to many weapons in the backfield. Broncos have been monitoring Cook for a few weeks now, def smoke there.

Cook def has some Kamara game planning schemes in him that Payton would love to have.

Not to mention having those 3 backs would allow you to ease Javonte back in and keep all 3 backs fresh.

Vikes are hoping for trade before official release. They are going to want more than the Broncos have to swing a deal. Dolphins have more draft capital. Broncos have barely any picks as it is. Didn't they also give up their 2nd rounder for Payton?

I don't see this happening, with the contract issue and the trade ammo issue, but again, we will see.

Why would anybody trade for him when they know he is going to be released.

            Not gonna happen.

If the Dolphins want to make sure they get him, they throw a draft pick at Minnie before Friday. There will be other teams flocking once he is released.

Florio the Vikings fan is officially throwing a temper tantrum about this all, so that is enjoyable.

Dalvin's a Miami kid so why wouldn't his 1st preference NOT be to go back home and play for his hometown team.

                Other perks:

Dolphins have more $$$ to offer
                No state tax in FL
                Miami, FL - tropical weather
Playing RB in a Shanahan-style/rb-proven offense
                Less team uncertainty

The Dolphins would really have to screw this up not to land him over us

He would thrive in a Kamara type role here. I'd like to see him join us.

While the thought of a Williams/Cook/Perine backfield sounds great, I don't see him choosing Denver. Miami and Dallas makes more sense than Denver, imo

I tend to agree. Cook would be a fun addition. But why would he choose the Broncos? And at what cost to the Broncos. Not many valuable picks or salary left for him without making a major change. Sutton traded to get him off the books?

This is where a perceived “HC Payton effect” would need to be real. Cook happily accepting a reduced salary to play for him in his system. Need to see it before I believe it.

At this point in his career, Dalvin may have more priorities than just money. If so, that would be determined in interviews with owners, GMs and Head Coaches of prospective teams. As far as money is concerned, Denver's owners may be able to facilitate an offer maximizing bonuses to supplement that which counts toward the salary cap. We'll see what happens.

Cook is Melvin Gordon the sequel. No thanks.
He is also washed up. Vikings know that.
Last 7 games he was 108 carries for 374 yards and 3 lost fumbles.

Don't sleep on Ty Chandler. (Not an Irish surname with variations, so I'm probably good)

I didn't watch a lot of Vikings games last year, so I don't know how much explosiveness Cook may have lost, but that's always translated very well as a receiver. I think that would be the main attraction there. I would expect the workload to be a heavier split for him than it was in Minnesota.

Some good points made about why he would choose Miami over Denver. For what it's worth, Miami spent a 3rd on Achane, and they take over 2 million against the cap to cut Mostert or Wilson. If they carry 4, which they did last year, they can just cut Gaskin though. I would think that's where he would want to go, but you never know.

                              Washed up at 27?

                              Interesting take

There are reasons the Vikings are good with letting go Cook and having Alexander Mattison be the starter. That was the plan since March when they re-signed Mattison. Alexander Mattison is really a younger and cheaper version of Cook.

Cook turns 28 in August. A lot of RBs production starts going down rapidly at 28. The Vikings don't want to pay him or have that 14.1 million cap hit this year.

Cook is also somewhat injury prone.

You are not getting Cook Broncos fans, and that is not a bad thing.
